About Me

I was born in a family where my father was a shop owner. We went to school in Bukokholo area where we grew up.I have one brother and one sister,Ken Lusabe and Phanice Lusabe.I attended primary school in Bukokholo primary and passed my Kenya Certificate of Primary education (KCPE).I graduated and joined St Patricks secondary in Kimukung where i did my O Level schooling and graduated but did not have enough funds to continue with my college education so i went into farming with my parents. My mother was a very hard worker and she taught us farming at a early age,so i learned how to plough peoples farms at an early age for a fee. This fee, which was around 4$ per acre, helped me raise money to put up a clothing business in Bukokholo market. My father eventually passed away and we were left with the numerous onslaughts of relatives claiming the land we lived on as theirs. We moved to the market and opened a hotel but without funds the hotel did not last.My clothing business barely survived but i moved to Bungoma town ,to the busy Kanduyi area of Bungoma town where i erected a stall and bought various clothes from the cheap Kenya Uganada border and brought them to Kanudyi for sale.I have a small girl who rocks my world, 5 year old Niva Lusabe, she always leads her class 1 and is my whole world.I manage to pay her fees at Hekima Academy and we manage to feed my mother back home as well as maintain business.I am working hard to make sure i see her successful one day and free from the struggles of poverty.I would like to add something about me that is hard to share but my friends encourage me to do so, i have suffered domestic abuse and was once married to a very abusive partner who beat me up regularly. In that violence he beat me one day until i lost my four lower front teeth, that is sadly why i cannot smile always in photographs, but i hope to get dentures one day.I left him with the help of friends and have lived with my baby girl Niva and hope to make a better life for her. Thank you

My Business

I buy second hand and also new clothes from the Kenya Uganda borde town known as Malaba and resell them at a profit in a makeshift stall at Kanduyi area of Bungoma.Sometimes i buy others at Webuye and come and resell them at Kanduyi. They are men and womens tops, trousers, shirts, shorts, skirts, pullovers, jeans etc.The Kanduyi area is along the transit point where truckers stop on their way to Malaba border to Uganda carrying loads,so before they get to the Malaba town they usually stop and sleep for days in Kanduyi while preparing their crossborder paperwork,so i have access to the money that they want to spend buying clothes and other amenities before they cross the border into Uganda.I make an average of 50$ in a good day but not less than 10$ in any given day. There are low seasons especially when there are diplomatic issues between Kenya and Uganda but mostly the business is good.

Loan Proposal

I will go to Malaba border town and purchase second hand clothes; a half bale of mens items which includes trousers, shorts (since it is hot season here and they are in demand), vests,t-shirts,jackets (bought by long distance truck drivers). The mens half bale costs 3000ksh (30$).I will also purchase another half bale of mixed variety of womens tops, skirts, bras and pullovers that goes at 3000 kshs (30$). I will also use the 40$ to buy another mixed selection of various items such as second hand petticoats, skin tights, towels, baby wear and bedcovers. I have a savings of 30$ and will use this savings to supplement my purchases by adding mens and womens shoes to my stock. It is also the beginning of the school term so parents are asking for childrens shoes so i will buy some too.
The mens bale usually returns an average profit of 1,080 kshs (12$) for the whole bale after sales. Usually between 12$ to 14$ in a week, while womens products fluctuate a lot but make an average return of 10$ to 12$ in a week. With this boost i can eventually increase my payback amount of the loan.
