About Me

My name is Stella Chepngeno. I am a young single mother with 2 children. I am a very industrious lady from Kiamunyi, Nakuru County. This is one of the blessed places because agriculture does really well. Agricultural activities range from tea, potato, pyrethrum and maize farming. Dairy farming also does well here. I cleared school from Keringet Boarding Primary school in 2003 after which I joint St. Clare High School for my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). I qualified for a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Marketing option) in Egerton University, Nakuru. I graduated in December 2013. Currently I am a business lady operating my own cyber Cafe and recently opened up a restaurant.

My Business

The cyber café and restaurant businesses have really been rewarding despite the covid-19 pandemic. I won’t fail to earn $250 on a bad month. My business is just a 2 kilometer-drive from Nakuru town. The estate holds, on average, many affluent residents. There are a few shops around putting me in a position to sell more. I also have an M-PESA and fully stocked retail shop . This is something common in Kenya and it enables people to deposit, send or receive money through their phones- mobile banking. The main challenge in my shop is that most residents buy goods in supermarkets in town as they head home from work in the evening. However, I never fail to get customers. The shop and M-Pesa gives me a profit of over $400. I am looking forward to growing my business even more and I would be grateful to all those who will help raise the loan to grow my business even more bigger.

Loan Proposal

First of all let me thank Zidisha for this opportunity to be part of them. I own a shop in Kiamunyi estate, just a 2 kilometer-drive from Nakuru town. In the shop, I also operate an M-pesa. This is something common in Kenya and it enables people to deposit, send or receive money through their phones- mobile banking. I will use the Zidisha Loan to add float to M-Pesa. This is the amount that should be in an M-Pesa phone for effective money transfer and withdrawal. This will in turn generate more money that I can use to stock my shop. Thank you.
