About Me

My name is Kevin Murunga, from Teso south sub county, Busia county western Kenya. I am the last born in a family of 6 and was raised with my step mother, after my parents passed on while I was young. I schooled at the Burumba primary school and later Joined St Lukes secondary school where I successfully completed my secondary Education.
I am currently I still leaving with my aunt, she has given me a farm where I grow traditional African vegetables and sale them to get money to buy my basic needs and save for fees. The business has proven great potential should I get an opportunity and resource to expand it. I grow traditional African vegetables , and the demand is very high, I always turn down many offers because since I don’t have the potential to supply in large scale. Clients prefer my products because they are always fresh and clean. I have always maintained high standard of cleanness and quality so as to always be the most preferred supplier.
I come from a region where there is the iteso dance. This a special dance only done by Iteso community and most Kenyans identify it.
During my free time, I always like playing basket ball, teaching my nephew how to read and write. I love my garden and so I spend quite a lot of time working on it. My hobbies include dancing, swimming, socializing and eating.
I am looking forward to positive interactions with the Zidisha team and all the stakeholders. I am trustworthy and honest young man who can be trusted with loans.

My Business

My name is Kevin Murunga,I come from Teso south Busia County, in western Kenya .I am a small commercial farmer, engaging in traditional African vegetables and kales. I provide fresh, and high quality vegetables to my clients.
I have about 1 acre of land but currently I only utilize quarter of the land, since I don’t have the resource for expansion. I grow traditional African vegetables and sell it to fellow villagers and wholesalers who come to my farm. The business is profitable because the vegetables grow very fast and that means more money for me. I rarely use fertilizer and that has greatly increased my revenues, since I cut on the cost of production and contribute positively towards environment related issues.
I spend $50 as production costs each month, (buying seeds and labor) .My monthly revenue is $180 and so in a good month I make a profit of upto $150.
