About Me

My name is Judy Mugo, born in Kirinyaga County near the famous Mount Kenya. In fact the name Kenya is a corruption of Kirinyanga which foreigners found too hard to pronounce and my country got her name from that! Kirinyanga is a cold place with many meandering rivers which originate from the snow capped mountain. It is famous for tea production as well as other agricultural produce.

I went to school when I came of age and I joined clothing and Textile College after completing my secondary school. I then moved to Mombasa town after getting married where we settled and started a family. We were blessed with three kids now aged 13, 6 and 2 years old.

I am in music industry but I also sell insurance policies on part time basis. I am a hardworking person who endeavors to secure the future of her family.

My Business

Ever since I was a small child, I had a strong liking for music. I was very active in school choral music as well as in church. I later decided to turn my hobby into a career where I get paid for entertaining people in social gatherings such as weddings, business promotions etc.

I produced my first audio album late last year and it has been well received by my fans. I am not known beyond Mombasa and I need to do a bit of travelling doing its promotion so as to reach more people. It is for this reason that I have decided to join Zidisha program and ask for a loan to enable me meet the travelling costs.

I specialize in gospel music.

Loan Proposal

As stated in my previous post, with the first loan, I managed to sell 950 Cds of my first album. There is a cut-throat competition in this field of music and it calls for aggressive marketing if one is to succeed in this area. I am glad that my music has been received well by the masses but there is still a lot of ground to cover. I now want to go to far flung areas and make more sales in preparation for the video version release which I have planned to do before the end of this year.

If I get this money, I will use all of it in production of more CDs which will cost me around USD100 and then use the balance to cover traveling costs. I am hoping to travel to Nairobi for marketing where there is a huge market and a large christian community.

Thank you for walking with me in this journey of faith and may God bless you abundantly.
