my name is Loreen okello, I am the fouth born in a family of 9. I went to lela primary school and joined kajulu secondary mixed secondary school where i did my o-levels. Because I was always at home due to fees problem I did not do well in my exams . Because my grade could not allow me to join university, I went to Busia polytechnique to study food production,I dropped out during my second year due to lack of fees as my parents could not afford.
I went back home but life become unbearable as we could rarely afford 3 meals a day.I went to Busia town where I secured a job as a cook in a small hotel. I worked for six months while saving. My boss was impressed with my work and increase my salary to $50 per month I was so happy.since I had free food,I could send my parents some $15 for upkeep and save the rest. After one year with $$250 saving I decided to quit and open my small hotel. I had one table and two benches and cooked only pilau for the first one week. I got a number of clients who really supported me by eating at my hotel always. The hotel has grown and has 4 tables now and good chairs for clients.good quality ,cleanness and humility is the secret behind my growth.
I love cooking ,reading motivational books and watching movies .I also take some time once a month to visit children homes and donate the little I have so that all mankind could have some sense of belonging.
I am in the hospitality industry and run a small hotel ,I cook good quality food and sell it to my clients. My menu so far has only a few delicacies which I believe are in high demand i.e ugali, meat, vegetables, fish, beans and chapatis.
Most town dwellers and travelers do not cook from there houses and so there is need to cook cheap good quality food for these individuals.
I choose the hotel business because I had worked in a hotel for quite a long time and had experience in managing the business. These is what encouraged me to try my hand in these business.
I spend about $200 daily and my revenues per day is about $230 on daily basis. I use my money to buy food for my family, pay fees for my siblings, take care of my younger sister medical bills and of cos reinvesting in business to ensure growth of the venture.
