I finished secondary in 2006 was a student in Kisii High school, in the year 2007 I got admitted at the Kenya polytechnic to do a diploma in Mechanical Engineering currently known now as Technical university of Kenya. I graduated in the year 2010 with a pass in the diploma course. I tried looking for jobs but all that was in vain. It was then that I should apply what I had been taught in College in one of the courses that is entrepreneurship and communication.
Currently am single still trying to make myself stable financially. This would enable me provide my family with all that I didn’t have when the time is right for me. I think it’s a good idea for me to focus first on my business and see it grow first before I indulge in other things like my family otherwise if I start it now I think my business will not perform quite well. Giving my business time first would and when I see am doing good I can start a family.
I decided to try and work out on how I would raise funds as capital, this gave me different experiences in different skills though what I earned really just satisfied my necessities and I was left with little to save. Having lost my parents I really had to gear up and do several jobs so that I would increase my saving from $2.77 to $7.70 in a month.
The business I was thinking of starting required me to have a capital of $222.20. this I did raise in two years after a long period of hard work trying to reach my goal. My business deals with tyres, motorcycle spare parts e.g. spark plugs, spokes, chains, bolts and nuts, air cleaners, brake fluid and rims. With the money I had was in a position to purchase the required items for my small shop. This also helped me put up a structure near my home though its just of iron sheets. Its not that safe but for the moment am still in the process of working out a plan to set up a nice room made of bricks and a steel door. Otherwise security wise the area I am based is good no incidences of theft but would just want it to be a nice simple room of bricks some day.
Given the loan I would want to buy more inventories for my small spare parts shop, that is I add more of the Screws, Bolts and Nuts, Chains, motorcycle tires and rims, battery etc. my spare part shop is just another business that helps me in increasing the cash inflow other than the repair services I do offer to the motorcyclists motorcycle. My customers are motorcyclists mostly though I do have the automobile tyres. These are second hand tyres which are in good condition and get customers buying them when they are not in a position to get new tires at the moment.
If given a loan of $100, I would purchase spare parts in whole sale spending $90 in the purchase of Bolts and nuts, motorcycle rims and tubes and tires, spark plugs, get an apron too $1.60. The remaining $8.40 will be spent on any miscellaneous expenses.
My daily earning is at$13.30 and daily expense is at $4.30 this translates to a gross profit of $9.00 in a day. A monthly earning is at$399.00 and monthly expenses is at $129.00 and a monthly gross profit of $270.00 its from this profit that I pay myself and settle my daily transactions.
