About Me

Am Mariam Namwa Mwangala, Am a businesswoman in Likoni and Mtwapa. Am 25 years old, born and raised in Taita Taveta district. I went Kambito primary school in in Taita.this was in 1993 and completed in 2001. After that i went to Mwaghogho secondary school also in Taita. that was from 2002 to 2006 After that i went to Unik driving school, for two months and then went to Migadini Iron bridge college where i did my computer course. After my courses, that was in 2009 i started the search for a living. I was first employed at Voyager hotel as a front office secretary i did that job for only five months. After there i decided to start my own business. i first started with a retail shop, and later a friend of mine introduced me to her boutique. i was amazed with how she was moving along with her work, the way she arranged her work really inspired me. I thought of starting a similar business. i started my boutique on the 5 august,2010. this was wonderful, And since it was the pick of holidays my goods sold really fast! i got the courage of doing it more! I accompanied my friend in one of her trips to Daresalam, in Tanzania where she gets her fabrics .

My Business

I have a boutique shop in mtwapa and also in Likoni. I sell Clothes, cosmetics, women handbags, shoes, jeweleries. Although i've been in this business for less than two years but i've had a very wonderful experience in this business. I get most of my products from Dar es salam in Tanzania. Apart from this business trip i get the opportunity of meeting more different people, its been a wonderful experience to me. I buy my products from different dealers in Tanzania, these products are like, the fabrics, which are cheaper and of good quality there in Tanzania. On reaching here with my products i first choose the best for my shop and then distribute the rest to other dealers who i supply. I do the selection because i want to sell only the best at my shop. I also have a salon within the shop.In my salon section i do services like, weaving style setting, manicure, pedicure, factual etc. there are risks in this business, like much traveling, some times i travel at night so as to reach my goods in time.I must say its a good business, because i get a minimum income of ksh 35,000 per month, which i use ksh 10,000 to pay my helper, ksh 3,000 is used to pay rent at the shop, ksh 2,000 is used to pay my house rent, ksh 5,000, i send to my family who are at home in Taita. i use ksh 2,000 for my personal expenditures. i save ksh 14,000 per month.

In my business am so much devorted to my customer's satisfaction and with this loan i want to add more of the most resent designs of clothes that are now available in the market. So i will travel to Tanzania and buy these products worth ksh.20,000 and also cosmetics worth ksh.10,000, ksh.5,000 will be used for transport and this will add more value to my business hence i expect more profit.
