i was born in ekerubo village, keroka division in former kisii district and now county. in a family of five siblings, and a polygamous family, am the second born of our house.
i went to ekerubo primary school and later preceded to hema secondary school in 2005, where i sat for my O-levels in 2009. after passing my KCSE, i was admitted to Dedan-kimathi university college where i was did diploma in computer. this was the source of my entrepreneurial thinking.
i started my cybercafe business in the year 2012 when i was in my final year. it was coincidental that i was awarded a bursary of ksh32,000 from my home constituency and i had been given the cash from an uncle of mine who works in Mombasa. this was an opportunity that i could not waste. i could not squander the money and i could not return the cash to my uncle. then i decided to try this business idea that was the dream of my heart. i bought a second hand hp 2250 printer, at ksh 3500, three second hand computers at ksh7500@. i then rented an old shop at ksh 1500, where i converted its shelves into cyber furniture. at first it was funny and people were discouraging me. but i persevered. with my three computers, i did not have internet. what i used to do was simple computer services such as photocopy, typesetting, scanning . i then progressed and i saved for a lamination machine where i would laminate id cards, and certificates. then as the there was a growing need for passports and digital photos, i borrowed ksh. 11200 from my mother plus ksh. 15000 that i had saved, and bought a brand new Epson printer for quality photos. so nowadays, i print photos and passports. and this has boosted my business a lot. that is all about my business
when i get funded from zidisha, the following are the ways on how i will use my loan.
firstly i will order for more printing papers JK TOP Quality Printing papers from town, at ksh 1000, then i will also order for quality photo printing papers 3 dozens at ksh.1800 so as to prepare for this peak Christmas season which has already began with people demanding more and more photos for various occasions and ceremonies. finally i will use the remaining money to paint and the entrance of the cyber with new and attractive colors that will convince everybody to my cybercafe.
