My name is Philip Osei. I was born into a very poor family of 6 in Accra, Ghana. There was no shelter so we used to sleep under bridges - that's to say we were destitutes. We lived beggarly life with our parents who normal deployed us unto the streets to beg for money so we could buy food and eat.
Sometimes I go to the Makola Market and do carriage jobs and get money and food for the entire family. Life continued this way until I met a certain Tailor who advised my parents to release me to them so he could teach me tailoring free. He added that, through me the family would be saved.
My parents were extremely happy and agreed to the tailor's proposal so I went and stayed with the tailor for one year and learnt tailoring.
Today, I am proud to say I am a Tailor - thanks be to God.
After passing out, I hustled for 3 months to get more and buy my on sewing machine so I can start my business.
God being so good, I gathered some money about USD 252.05 which I used to buy the machine and started the sewing business small, small by the roadside.
Because I don't have money to buy materials to sew different styles to display, I make one USD 5.00 daily which we manage as family. So I would say the profits from the business currently are to feed only my family which shouldn't have been the case.
I wish to grateful thank my lenders and the entire Zidisha team for the selfless support during my first loan.
However, having fully repaid my first loan, I wish to apply for a second facility to enable me buy some yards of African prints(fabrics) for my next production.
I therefore highly and humbly call on my lenders to fund my project so I can expand my business.
Thank you.
