About Me

I am Christopher Kaunda from Luwingu in Northern province of Zambia.
I am 37 years old and self-employed.I come from a family of 7. When i completed my junior secondary school, i could not continue my education to senior secondary school due to financial challenges and also distance involved in moving from home to school so i started farming at my parent’s farm where all of us 7 children have been given some portion of land. But later I was able to pay for myself and finish my secondary school. I am an independent person and two children who want to both become Doctors when they grow up.

My Business

My business mainly is planting and growing of banana plants. My bananas are big in size and very sweet. I started this business after I discovered that they was a lot of demand and I chose a nice variety which is not very common . In order to make ends meet, I also keep tilapia fish and I have 3 ponds at the moment. I have 2 workers who have been helping me. The profit I make from my business I buy food for my family, pay school fees and meet other needs. The major expense I make now is buying insectides and also transport of taking my bananas to my customers.

Loan Proposal

The loan am applying for I intend to buy insectides for my banana plants so that I can have a bigger yield as I will produce more . My production will increase and also my profit will increase. Sometimes my production is limited because I do not have things to fight pests and control diseases so I end up making losses. But with help from zidisha with this loan it means I will produce more. The profit I make I will pay school fees for my 2 children and rest I will repay my loan so that I finish repaying quickly. So I thank you in advance.

Income Source

My bananas are on demand some people even pay in advance before I harvest . even there is economic crisis people still want to eat and eat healthy. I have identified a hospital where I have set up a small shop for fruits and visitors to the hospital normally buy these bananas for patients. I am very sure that even with economic crisis I can still sell and have money to repay.
