About Me

I was born in 1980 in a place known as Laikipia, and my parents were both casual labourers in the local Laikipia town.We moved from Laikipia to Eldoret then to Kitui where my father bought a small piece of land and we lived on his charcoal business. We always had food from this business and my parents tried their hardest to make us live well.I was in and out of school because of fees problems but i managed to complete my primary and secondary school and started doing charcoal business too where i would buy and sell charcoal from different dealers or from people who sold used construction timber.I saved enough money to start a shop selling photography material and added phones to my stock with time. I have been married for 8 years now and have three children.I like sports and whenever i have time i like watching drama series on tv.My children want to be a doctor,a teacher and a gymnast.

My Business

I buy photography material and resources such as film and lenses from Nairobi and resell them in Kitui town,i also buy and sell used phones from Nairobi and within Kitui then resell these at a profit in Kitui. On average i make around 60$ per month after paying the rent of 30$ per month and electricity bill which averages around 10$ per month.I chose this business after seeing the demand that wasnt met in Kitui town and which forced people to travel to the capital city Nairobi in order to buy these products. The phone business on the other hand is a high sales investment and i always get one client every day who wants to buy a new or used phone. The money i make is what i use to pay for my course,i am studying Nursing and hopefully will graduate next year.I am also helping my husband to pay fees for my children who are still in primary school.

Loan Proposal

I will buy photography papers worth 30$ and film worth 30$ ,after which i will sell the same and make a profit of 15$ on the photo papers while also making 20$ on the film which many people with analogue cameras here still prefer. With this profit i will buy more paper and film and will make at least 50$ profit every two weeks that i can bank in my savings account for my nursing fees. I know this will also help me to have a better education and to plan bigger things for my business.I am already training an orphan on how to be an entrepreneur so that i can at least change a life.
