My name is Hannah Wanjiru Kigera, third born in a family of 15, 8 boys and 7 girls. Born in Nyeri County. I went to Aguthi primary school, and Othaya Girls secondary school. After completing my fourth form, I joined Kagumo Teachers Training College. Now I am a graduate teacher and attained this academic level through loans from the Government, which I later paid after being employed in a private school. Before joining Teachers College I Was employed in a Poultry farm. With the experience I gain in that business I was able to start mine.
I have partnered with Mr. John Simiyu and Mrs. Esther Gakumo. We have engaged ourselves in poultry farm which is very profitable business. We started poultry farm with small money but now it growing big now because we manage it well. We supply eggs to supermarkets, hotels, market places and also at residential places. We chose this poultry farming because there no other poultry farm in this area and for that our poultry farm help the community here .We earn a lot of money from this business. We need loan to support this business so that we take good care of our children schooling to have better future and also achieve their dreams in their lives. We use the 50% of our profit for reinvestment so that we have more profit and use part to pay our children’s school fees.
If the loan is granted, we will expand our business by purchasing more chicks, this will ensure that we have continued stream of cash current stocks of birds are sold off. We will also have to buy an improved jiko which will give warmth to chicks especially on this rainy season. This will bring more profits and I will be able to pay for the loan and school fees for our children and other necessities and also reinvest in the business.
