My names are Edward Kuria and I come from Subukia centre. I am a primary school leaver who didi my KCPE in the year 2004 but was not lucky to attend secondary education due to lack of school fees and therefore decided to start a business. I am married and a father of one. I do milling business. I.e. I grind maize to produce flour to the residents. I also own a charcoal business where my wife is in charge. When you reach at Subukia town you can ask Jorums Posho mill and you will be directed to the place and on reaching there ask for Kuria. It is along the road so easy to recognize the place.
My business is maize milling &charcoal Business. In my business am able to make a total income of 1000 shilling in a day. When I less my expenditures in a day am able to get a profit of an average of 400 shillings in a day. In addition the charcoal business gives about 600 in a day and when I less the expenditure such as the buying cost of the charcoal and the house rent I get about 200 shillings in one bag. In a day am able to sell one and a half bag of charcoal thus giving a daily profit of 300 shilling for charcoal. In total I get about 500 shillings in a day. This translates to about 13,000 shillings in one month.
Hi lenders, As stated earlier i have started a poultry farming with the interest i got the Charcoal and milling business which was made a success by the previous loan which I have just completed.
I would like to start poultry farming in my area so as to increase the profit. The reasons why i chose poultry farming is because there is demand for eggs which is lacking in the area. also the poultry meat is in high demand in the local hotels making me feel that it will boom and also to make use of my byproducts. Since i am in milling business, and there are a lot of by products, I will use the by products such as maize germ, wheat germ to manufacture my own feeds which I will take to the Kenya Agriculture Research Institute (KARI) in order to ensure it is of the right quality. This means that the cost of production will decrease because am going to manufacture my own food. The only thing i have to buy are the chicks, Vaccines & drugs, and also the feeds supplements. I will use $ 12.5 to buy 100 chicks from the Kenchick company which is recognized for best chick sale, $12 to buy the poultry feeds supplements & $ 5 to buy vaccines & drugs for the chick. I will do the labour for my self . Thank you very much.
