About Me

I was born in Kaptembwo slums in Nakuru county. I was born during the era that a woman's job was to procreate and people were very ignorant and did not know the importance and meaning of family planning. It was according to our culture to bare many children. In our home i am the third born in a family of thirteen. Because of the large number, everything was scarce, from food to clothing and even where to sleep. We lived in a very small one room but we just had to persevere. My father was doing small jobs in town like carrying luggage, selling snacks at times and my mother was just a housewife. Money was very little and i schooled with a lot of difficulties being sent home every month for school fees balances. I finished my primary education well and passed but i could not go to high school because we were learning one at a time so i paved way for my younger brother to finish primary education too. I could not just stay at home all day because i always felt the need to change my home and put my family in a better place. My father, through his friends who worked with him in town introduced me to the jobs in town and i choose to do a job of public payphone. I work there to date.

My Business

I operate in town at a public payphone shop. I offer communication services which include making calls, receiving calls and sending text messages. I also sell scratch cards and simcards. communication is in demand because everybody in the country needs to communicate in order to pass and receive information. communication in today's world is a necessity thus increasing it's demand. I chose this kind of business because of the arising need of communication in the country yet many people lack mobile phones. I come in handy by providing the mobile phone to be used for communicating. I am payed based on commission of 30% of the day's earnings. i get an average pay of 4 us dollars in a day. With this, i help my father in providing food and daily basic needs in the house. i also save a small portion of the money for my future business. The money is never enough since we are very many. i also support one of my sister in her schooling so that now two of my siblings can go to school at the same time. This will help them to study faster.

Loan Proposal

when i get 5 us dollars, i will add to my savings of 20 us dollars and use the amount to buy a public payphone worth 25 us dollars. Having my own public payphone i will be self employed and this will increase my earnings greatly. i will also be providing an extra payphone which will ease congestion on one payphone. i will also be adding the number of payphones around the town making them enough for the people. with the payphone, i expect an increased income from 4us dollars in a day to 10 us dollars in a day. with this increase, i will be able to support my family better and get another brother to school. i will also be able to pay back the loan in time.
