About Me

My name is Dolvin, was born and raised in Kakamega in western Kenya where i went to school until secondary education. Currently i live in Nakuru with my husband and four children. I work as a community health worker in Kaptembwo slums, Nakuru. Kaptembwo is a marginalized urban slum community with few opportunities for social advancement.
I earn a living by doing embroidery work. I have been in the embroidery business since year 2010

My Business

The business deals with making of mats, making baskets and necklaces using beads. i decided to start the business in the year 2010 after visiting Bomas of Kenya. I found their designs being more beautiful and i decided to venture into the business. The biggest challenge that i face is lack of funds to purchase materials and to employ one attendant. My main customers are women and men who buy for their wives as gifts. In a months I make net profits of upto $ 250 which I use to buy materials for the business and the rest cater for family needs. My goals for this business is to expand it to an extent of employing of workers who will assist me in the business. I love the business since it has helped me to cater for nearly all the needs in the family.

Loan Proposal

Given the loan together with my savings I will use $ 100 shillings to purchase beads and another $600 shillings to buy basketry materials such as lining ,zip fasteners .purchasing in bulk and this will lead to bigger discount, i will make more products than before and reach a bigger market through whole selling and retailing ,this will lead to increase revenue hence increase profit, the loan will lead to the growth of my business,it will be stable and lead to sustainability. The loan will further improve the standard of living for me and my family and enable me to pay my bill without stress.
