About Me

My full name is Elijah cheruiyot Langat born in a small village Siomo Bomet county in 1973. I am second born in a family of seven. My father was a driver and had a difficult time in educating us due to limited resources. I went to secondary school almost 300 kilometers away from home. Since my father was polygamous, we were five in high school. We all went to reputable high schools very far from home. I remember my father use to struggle paying our school fees on time and in full. Many instances I was left in school after closure waiting for fare back to home. The principal could at times dig into his pocket to give me fare home. I at times go to school without pocket money and the very necessities such as pens exercise books soap etc. This made me to work hard and become very innovative in life. I use to save any cent I come across to use while in school to buy my necessities.
After school I went to college did mechanical engineering diploma for three years. I remember my dad asking me not to join college because he was unable to pay for me. Since I am a strong believer of jesus Christ I trusted that God will help me to go through my college successfully. My dad accepted and paid for me first year fees. To the surprise of my dad and entire family, God helped me to get a sponsorship with Toyota Kenya which took me through meeting all the expenses. Later I secured myself a job. from there I have educated myself and did total quality management, Human resource management and technical education.

My Business

I am a small scale (Poultry and Dairy) farmer. Currently in the process of installing a biogas system through SISTEMA.bio. The entire project will cost me 178,800 to be completed. I have paid 17,880 as a deposit. Within 35 days they will install the system and require me to pay another 17,880. Thereafter i am expected to be paying 11,170 monthly for 12 months. I require the loan to pay the 17,880 and to buy fodder for my two dairy animals. I am also intending to buy one heifer to increase my dairy cows to 3.

Loan Proposal

I would like to buy feeds for my dairy cows and poultry. I have 4 dairy cows two are lactating and two in-calf. January to april is a dry spell in kenya and fodder is a challange. I would like to stock hay that can last me 3 months. 150 x 4 = Kshs.600 a day. for 90 days this will cost me Kshs. 54,000 for fodder only. Dairy meal will cost me will cost me 1850 x 4 weeks x 3 months = Kshs. 22,200.
Poultry will cost me 2,500 x 2 bags in a month x 3 months = Kshs. 15,000
Total amount will be 54,000 + 22,200 + 15,000 = Kshs. 91,200
I am sure this will assist me to grow my farming to another level.

Income Source

My loan repayment will be possible since the two in-calf dairy cows is due in late January 2021. The production once my two in-calf heifers deliver, I will produce 50 Liters x Kshs.50 per day 2,500 equivalent to 70,000 a month. Poultry gives me 35 eggs a day 40 x Kshs. 12.50 = 500 equivalent to Kshs. 15,000 a month. I am also having 264 egg Incubator that produces between 150 to 200 chick every three weeks. In a month I always make at least 30,000. 200 chicks x Kshs. 150.
Again i will also supliment with my salary in repaying my loan. I am employed in a tea Factory as an assistant manager. I have schooling children once i pay for their fees, i will concentrate in loan repayment to enable me clear and even go for higher loan to grow my business.
I assure my lenders that i will always commit to repay my loan fully and as planned.
Thank you and may God almighty bless my lenders.

I have been having issues with my dairy farming and poultry. All my birds stop laying and i lost a number of them due to disease outbreak. My dairy farm has 3 heifers incalf and 1 which is almost drying. I am paying school fees and the corona outbreak has made life too expensive. I am trying to see how to start paying from 20/06/2021 onwards

Currently my poultry is not productive I changed the stock and have not started laying. My cows are currently dry and i am struggling paying through other sources which is meagre. I had requested Zidisha that i pay monthly through salary which is paid once a month. I can consolidate four weeks contribution and pay once a month. I did not receive response.

As psoted earlier i have a big hospital bill we are sorting out as a family. The bill for my niece amounting to 1.2million. I am playing a major role for this to be cleared. My niece is epileptic and she fell onto fire and was burnt 60%. Her arm was amputated and her right leg knee cap was replaced through surgery at Kijabe Hospital. She was first admitted in TENWEK referal hospital for about 2 months in ICU. It has never been easy and have tried to communicate several times to ZIDISHA to assist me in reducing my repayment of the loan to allow me sort out the issue.

Hello Zidisha, I had a financial challange in the last one month up to now. My niece 16 years is epileptic and she fell on fire when she was alone. She sustained 60% burns until her hand was cut off on the wrist. She was taken to Tenwek referral hospital and to Kijabe Mission Hospital for specialized knee cap surgery. the bill went up to 1.2 million kenya shillings. We are in the process of raising money for the bill and organizing for fund drive. I am asking to reduce my weekly installments though planning to clear my loan on time early april 2021.

I want to thank first of all God almighty for favouring me with the gift of life at this time of Covid-19. It is indeed a great favour and gift from God to be alive and well. Secondly i thank greatly and sincerely my lenders Akshay Chalana and Joseph Hwang for accepting to fund my loan request and in a very short period. My you be blessed and be favoured by God in a big way.
I am planning to buy fodder (hay) for my four dairy cows and also for my poultry. January to April is always a dry period in Kenya and dairy feeds/fodder is a challenge. So I will use my loan to purchase at least three months hay for my dairy cows. I will also buy poultry feeds for my layers and 200 chicks. Since i got a new venture in poultry of rearing cocks for 4 to 5 months then sell them for meat. Most Kenyans now days prefer white meat than beef. I tested my hypothesis this December where i sold 5 months 10 cocks at Kshs. 1000. Currently i have 110 three weeks old chicks. I also expect another over 100 chicks to hatch in two weeks time. I am planning to rear them and separate cocks from cockerels. Then keep cockerels for eggs and cocks for meat. This is a new opportunity I just discovered this December. I am so grateful and will work hard to grow my business to a higher level and ensure to pay my loan on time to enable me to take a higher loans in future.
    Thank you once more

I would like to thank my lenders for the fantastic work you are doing. My loan assisted me to purchase additional two dairy cows. My current dairy unit host 4 dairy cows. Two are in-calf and two are lactating. I am hopeful that the two in-calf dairy animals will boost milk production to about 50 litres per day. This will generate revenue of 50 x 50 = 2500/= per day. The amount received per week will be 2500 x 7 = 17,500. That is Kshs. 70,000 a month. I also Keep poultry currently i have 50 laying improved kienyeji which gives me 40 eggs daily. 40 x 12.5 = 500 daily equivalent to 3,500 weekly and 14,000 every month.
I also have 264 egg incubator that gives me between 150 to 210 chicks every month. I sell 1 day old chick at Kshs. 80, 1 week at Kshs. 150, 2 weeks at 250 a month at 350. This generates at least Kshs. 30,000 a month.
Now i would like to apply for 90,000 loan to buy feeds for my 4 dairy cows and my laying kienyeji chicken and my chicks.
In Kenya the months of January to March is always dry spell. Animal feeds is a challenge in this period. I would like to stock feeds that will last me at least three months.
Once again I take this opportunity to thank my lenders for trusting me with their funds which went a long way in improving my livelihood with my family. I also worked hard to ensure I become a faithful servant to ensure i pay back on time. Although there were challenges along the way, God is faithful that he enabled me to clear even before the allowed period. Thank you and may the good Lord bless all of you as you continue lending me once again. I promise that i will work hard to keep my promise in paying on time and clearing the loan fully. God bless you.
    Yours Faithfully

I have given two months to build up for better production next lactation period. Due to this income reduced considerably and i am buying feeds /fodder for the animals. I did not foresee this but i am planning myself to clear the loan soon if i get a source. Thank you

Just a question to ask. I do not understand the way loan progression is determined. All of a certain it changed from 114000 to 58,000. Yes if i did not clear my loan by 28/09/2020 then it would have remained 87,000. This demotivate. I thought it would not drop keeping in mind i do not fail to pay every week. I always ensure i pay may only delay one or two days depending on cash flows. Couldnt this be understood rather than seen as a defaulter and reducing my credit limit. 2 I asked about the amount retained as risk is it refundable? may someone answer me this from zidisha please!
