About Me

My name is Sandra Djan, born on the 18th November 1984 in Accra. I am a Ghanaian. I am single from a family of eight. I live at North Dzorwulu a town in Accra. I work as a teaching Assistant at the University of Ghana. I have a degree in political Science with Sociology and masters in Adult education from the University of Ghana. I started the business because I needed another source of income to sustain and support my family and other people am taking care of as a social responsibility.
I love to sing
What makes me happy is to see others happy, so I love to help the needy especially the aged and orphans. I believe in spending more on others than myself. So one of the reasons I started my own business is help others. As a result of this passion I have joined an NGO which has the sole responsibility of helping the needy. The name of the NGO is Passion for Needy.

My Business

My main source of income is the salary from teaching and the business am doing. My main line of business is the sale of African prints. The demand is high because it is the main traditional wear of Ghanaians and it is used for all occasions.
My customers are all over the country. My strategy basically is to get people employed especially women, so I make sure I have some women in the rural areas who sell the goods over there consequently they will also have something at the end to cater for their families. So I do have a lot of customers.
My business is quite profitable because day in and day out Ghanaians and other non Ghanaians keep buying the prints for occasions and it is our tradition which will never pass away. The main risk is that, some customers will want the goods on credit so there are times to get the money back becomes very difficult after giving the goods to them.
My typical monthly cost is $500 and sales revenue for the month is$1,000, my typical monthly profits could be between $2,000 to $3,000.

Loan Proposal

When am given this loan it will help me buy more African prints. This will enable me grow my business and also help the other women to earn more money to cater for their families. At the long run this loan will improve my business.
It is important that I grow my business because the demand is very high, as I stated earlier in my profile, African prints is used by almost every West African country to grace occasions and therefore as a supplier I always have to make sure I satisfy my customers. Therefore this loan will go a long way in growing my business.
