I was born in Kamenya Clan of Homa Bay County 25 years ago where I grew up. Am married with two children (a son and a daughter). I started my studies for primary school at a local school called Nyamasare Primary school. While in class six. my father died and I was left a partial orphan. This really brought a lot of miseries as I could not go to school uninterrupted to remain at home looking for my siblings while my mother goes to do small fish selling in the local market. I had to drop from school in class seven as I could not manage to raise school subsidies that were required in school. After dropping from primary school, I did not have money to pursue any course, therefore I resorted to work as untrained beautician in a local saloon in order to learn hairdressing techniques.
This hard life, made me to think of being an entrepreneur at a very early age, hence my success to date. My 1st born is in class 2 and very bright, while my daughter is in pre-school. I do participate in community service activities like visiting the sick.
I trained in beauty therapy and therefore started a business that deals with beauty and cosmetics. I do saloon work, sell beauty cosmetics and hair dressing in my area of residence. I started this kind of business because to help supplement my husband meagre income. I had a passion for leading a meaningful life and the saloon business gave me an opportunity to pursue my dream. I currently get at least 5 customers a day for hair dressing and earn Ksh 200 per client multiplied by 5 which is not bad to save and buy other materials. I also sell cosmetics which brings in some cash. total daily earnings from this business is around Ksh 1,200. I do save 20% of my daily business income and re-invest in the business.
A loan of Ksh 6,034, will be used to buy assorted beauty, cosmetics, hairdressing fabrics and pedicure oils for use in my saloon business. With this loan, I will be able to attract more clients and my profit will increase. I project a profit increment margin of Ksh 400 per day. This profit will be used to repay the loan and help support my family food, education and clothing needs.
