About Me

I am true testament of the power of the community. After losing my parents at a very young age, relatives and friends helped me through life and gave me the strength to overcome the hardest challenge of my life.
As a parent, I now realize the value of commercial farming as opposed to subsistence farming as financial commitments increase.
It is also very fulfilling for me to be in a position to help others in the community just as others bore my burden as I was growing up.
A big thank you to my first Zidisha loan as this has made a remarkable improvement in my life, my family and the people around me.

My Business

the business is mainly poultry farming . I keep broilers and sell to the market when they are mature. The poultry business have a huge demand in Nairobi, this is because many people are taking the first foods especially during lunch time. the main expenses for this business is purchase of one day old chicken and feeds. 500 chicks will cost 30,000 Ksh ($358). this will require about 25 bags of feeds. each bag is Ksh 4000 ($48). the total cost of feeds therefore comes to $1200. When all other expenses like labor, transportation included, the profit from the venture about $ 607.

Loan Proposal

The amount of Ksh 4517 will be used to purchase feeds for my chickens. i will buy a bag of chicken feed at $ 47 while the $6 will be added to pay the labour cost for the person working on the farm. The chickens are at a crucial stage that they need to be fed well so that they get to the right weight for the market. currently i have 200 chicken that are almost ready for the market. This will go along way into feeding the chickens so that they get to right weight for the market. proper feeding is requred for the broilers to fetch a good price in the market. This amount will be added with what i have to ensure the customers are satisfied withmy product. My goal is to continually increase my stock so as to be able to meet the increasing demand in the market.
