About Me

Samuel Okoth Oliech is my name. I was born in Yala within the jurisdiction of Siaya County in the Republic of Kenya. I am married to Anastacia Atieno and God has blessed us with three children, two boys and a girl. They are lively and lovely children, the first born is Gabriel, then Phoebe who is the only daughter followed by Reagan the last born as of now. As their parents, we aspire to bring them up in the fear and admonition of the Lord, for we are saved and sanctified by the precious blood of the Lamb. We do acknowledge the big role we have to do to see that they are provided with education, shelter, food and clothing, besides being brought up in a completely different environment, lifestyle and unprofitable cultural beliefs which were part of our lifestyle when we grew up.
Back to my personal life, I am a third born in a family of six children, five boys and one girl. I completed my basic education in the year 1991, and thereafter joined Alambo Lakeside College for my secondary education for a period of two years after which I dropped out of school due to lack of school fees. My parents could not afford to pay for my school fees because of poverty. As a result of this, I had to drop out of school and find ways to help my Mum in sustaining and bringing up my younger siblings. I started and engaged myself in farming vegetables to help sustain myself and assist my mum with the household budget. In the year 1998, my cousin wired my way to a free sponsorship program funded by World Bank in conjunction with the Kenyan government for the needy and the less fortunate in the society. So, I miraculously joined Kenya Industrial Training Institute for an automotive engineering course which I successfully completed two years later. Since then, I have been the sole bread winner not only to our extended family but also to my mother-in-law who is also a widow and to my sister who also lost her husband in 2007 leaving her behind with four children under her care.

My Business

Following continual financial constraints on my part, and the financial obligations I have to meet every month, we engaged each other as a family on how to overcome this challenge of accumulating debts by the end of every month. The only way was to supplement my income. We decided to open a small business to start with. After this meeting, we were so determined and optimistic that by the end of every month, we were putting aside a considerable amount of money by denying ourselves many basic necessities for us to achieve our goal. This culture of savings went on for six months, and finally our vision of starting a retail shop came to fruition in April 2012. I can testify that our business took off very fast and today it is viable and with a high potential growth. True to its inception goals and objectives, today we use the proceeds to help pay for school fees for our three children, paying rent, and supporting our mothers who are all widows with no one to rely upon except their God. On receiving my first loan, I upgraded my stock, and brought in more new consumable brands which were out of my reach financially. I want to thank you in advance, Zidisha. May God bless you mightily as you put my financial request into your humble consideration.

Loan Proposal

If granted this loan, I'm planning to buy building materials like stones, cement, timber and nails for our residential house. As a family we have managed to buy a piece of land with the proceeds from our businesses you've been financing. We've therefore, decided that it is also good to start developing it so that in the near future we could relocate and do the business in our own premises, this would exempt us from paying monthly rents and thus increase our income in terms of profit which will in turn help us to complete these loans in a timely manner. On the other hand, when we are living in our own property we can engage in many activities like poultry farming or even in livestock farming. With these projects in mind, we are still optimistic that through you our beloved lenders, you will take as far. Thank you once again.

My Business

First and foremost, it is my pleasure to convey my gratitude to zidisha team for this wonderful initiative. It has really been a blessing to many and to me in particular, since the time I joined in April 2016, I can count so many blessings attached to it, from my retail shop, buying a motorbike and purchasing a sewing machine, I can testify that I am a beneficiary of this life changing organization. Proceeds from these businesses have helped me purchase a piece of property which I have started developing & I very optimistic that with zidisha's continued lending I'll relocate to my own piece of land in the near future.
