About Me

I'm Millicent Atieno Kaseme, born in 14/09/1987 Mfangano Island Mbita District Homa Bay county and married to John Onyango in 2003 and blessed with four children.I went to Ragwe primary school in Kaksingri west where I did my kcpe in 2002.I got poor grade and couldn't join secondary education. In the course of the following year, I got pregnant and later married to my dear husband until to date.My children are growing up and the first girl child is in class eight and would like to be a teacher, the second child is in class six would like to be a doctor, the third child is in class three and would like to be accountant and the last girl child is in class one and would like to be a nurse. In our area, we experiences heavy rainfall mostly from month of March to June which is condusive for farming and enough pasture for cattle keeping. With the little capital I was given by my husband, I started a small business of selling horticultural products and operating a small retail shop in the village to get profit. During my free time mostly Sundays , I usually attends to church for prayers, reading bible,Sunday bible study and church hymns.

My Business

In my business,I purchases horticultural and other farming products from Awendo market and sell them in Lwanda Nyamasare market to gain profit. The business is always good during market days as so many people come to do weekly shopping for the whole week. My retail shop is doing good and sale of retail products are done perfectly and profit got is used to expand business. This increases my weekly earning by 50% thus helps me to pay school fees for the children, cater transport expenses, food, clothes and other basic and secondary needs.

There is a lot of rainfall in Mbita town and the vicinity. This destroys some of perishable commodities sold like fruits, vegetables and fish. It also increases more production of vegetables, fish catch increases in the lakes and this leads to less customers thus less sales.

With this, it will help me progress in business, family basic and secondary needs will be catered for, school fees will be paid for the children adequately and it also reducing financial stress. I would like to increase financial bond with ZIDISHA.Political and tribal conflict during general election in Kenya definitely laid negative impact in my horticultural business and monetary position depreciated drastically. But I tried to pay the remaining ZIDISHA balance. Thanks in advance.
