My Business

I currently have a flock of 25chickens, giving
me 20 eggs per day. God willing, some of my
chicken will be brooding soon, so the prospect
of my flock getting bigger are real. But i also
intend to add 50 chickens so as to be getting
approximately 45 eggs per day. This will
potentially increase my income since one egg
goes for 20 Kenya shillings (0.2 USD). I will be
selling the eggs giving me 10 USD per day, or
300 USD per month. With the first loan i got
from Zidisha, i put a perimeter wall around the
homestead, so that my chicken will be able to
scavenge for food. My current flock is doing
well and i noticed improvement in their body
size and egg production, thanks to your loan.
I will plough back the profits into the business
and expand it. My vision is to have a flock of
1000 chicken in the next two years, giving me
approximately 500 eggs per day.
Loan Proposal
If i get this loan, i will use it to expand my
flock.
70 USD will be used to buy additional flock. I
will buy 60, one day old chicks at a cost of 1.1
USD each.
Another 100USD will be used to expand the
chicken scoop, to accommodate the new flock.
100 USD will be used to buy commercial feeds
for the first four months. The rest of the
money will be used to buy commercial feeds
that will be used as complementary food
together with locally available feeds during the
subsequent months, until they start laying
eggs.
am going to increase my business in fast way i wish to get this loan.

    Hi Edmund,
It's great that you were able to make a repayment. Good on you! I'm surprised to hear that you would leave Zidisha because of your feelings about a comment I made which expressed my own experience and concerns to other lenders. If it's any help, I will be happy to upgrade my feedback to neutral once the loan is repaid in full, and please know that I am wishing you all the best in business and in life. Take good care.

dear Maureen if you change your comment then I will stay in this group and also invites my friends who are trust worthy too
I didn't meant to create any inconvenience in this group the only reason I didn't pay my loan on time ,was because I had some problem n I had no any other words to explain
but it is good Maureen u understand me

Hi Edmond, Sorry to hear about you beeing ill. It's been quite a while since your last update, and I am wondering how you are and if you have any plans how to repay - or else if you are in real trouble and need more time? Would be nice, to get a little update once in a while... I hope, you are well!

Hi Edmond, I'm so sorry to hear that you have been ill. I hope you are well now. It would be a good idea to pay something on the loan, as soon as you can, even if it is not a full payment. Just something to show that you intend to keep your word. Take good care of yourself. ~ Maureen

    • Matt B    Feb 25, 2015

I'm sorry to hear you were ill. I don't mind if we have to wait longer for repayment, and if you prefer to make smaller repayments while you and your business recover. To change your repayment amounts you should be able to reschedule your loan by clicking on "Change Installment Amount." . You can ask your mentor for help, or email [email protected] for support.

Hi Edmond, I just wanted to ask if there is a problem repaying this loan. I'm sure Zidisha will help you to adjust payments to a very small amount so that you can show that you do intend to repay the loan. If you make no effort at repayment or communication, I worry that you will not be able to find lenders in the future. I hope you and your family are well, and look forward to seeing a post from you soon. ~ Maureen

Hi Edmond! I just want to wish you good luck with your business. You have such a detailed plan for expanding production, I know you will be successful. I am also impressed by your commitment to education and attaining a degree in information communication technology. I am much much older than you are and I still have not achieved a degree. I am continuing my classes though. Take good care of yourself and your business, and I look forward to hearing more about your chickhens and other livestock expansion soon.

Hi Edmond! I'm so sorry, I do not give my personal email address out. I am happy to talk to you on the Zidisha site of course. I understand what a struggle it is to try to complete your degree while operating a business. My husband and I have had to do the very same thing. Keep doing your best and it will all get done. You should be so proud of your accomplishments so far, and even more proud when you have your degree!
