About Me

My name is Regina Njoroge. I was born 0n 20th July 1973 in Kiambu District in Kenya.

Am a 6th born in a family of 12 siblings, one mother. My parents were passionate about education and so we are all educated. I come from a christian background and our parents taught us many virtues which really prepared me for the quality of life am living.

I attended Kiriita Primary School for 7 yrs , then I joined Githunguri Girls High School for 4 yrs where I got a c+, later I did my diploma in Business Management in Strathmore College for 2 yrs.

I worked at Vision Investment for 9 years where I joined as a business trainee to get to a property Manager by the time I resigned to start up my business. My job entailed sourcing for clients for their apartments and giving them customer care. Besides I was also involved in accounting. Being a small company and very busy I learnt a lot of things that pertains to business which would later be of help to me. Thats how my Passion for business started.

Am now dealing in jewellery, wallets and Handbags which are imported from China. I later realised that in the Excel Mall where I was doing business all traders sell the same wares and designs. I came up with my own design that is being accepted in the market as they are unique.

I thus have employed two people to help me. I look forward to empowering the youth and working with them through offering them employment so I also want to create employment to many people in this great nation of Kenya if you help me find a suitable loan.

I come from Central Kenya where especially women are known for hard work. We believe in helping our spouses with finances. We are not home mummies. We like to also do our part.

I live in Nairobi and have 3 children who have a passion for countryside live. This is because where I come from ie Olkalou in Nyandarua County, its evergreen with natural resources, rivers and trees. They already have kept rabbits and want to go back in April to plant trees. All these is taken care by our relatives who lives there. So far the first born would like to be a farmer, the second born has a passion for art and is always kneating and the last born has an ear for music.

During my free time at home I like cooking and kneating new designs I have seen on the internet. I like gardening and house decoration. I also like traveling and have been to many parts of our country. Last Christmas we went to Samburu county where I believe everybody should make a point of visiting.

My Business

My business name is Trena Beauty Shop. Its located in Excel Building, Dubois Road. I sell handmade jewellery and other imported from China. I also stock handmade wallets and bags specifically made in kenya.

My goods are on high demand both in kenya and in East Africa. We have customers who come as far as Tanzania and Uganda. This is because they are handmade and are unique. I also tailor made them according to my customers taste.

I am in this business by choice and this is because I am creative. I was previously working in an office set up but this is where I belong now. When I see my customers satisfied I get the urge to do even more.

Per month I get gross profit of Kshs. 250,000 of which 100,000 is the cost of running my business, ie rent and salary plus directors fee etc. the rest of it goes to buying materials and then I use the part of it for expansion of my business. However this has been my main challenge because even if am financed by our kenyan financial institutions the interest rates have been ranging from 20 - 24%, and they expect to be paid in a short period. Also I lack collateral for big financing.

However am happy because I have managed to take children to school but I would like them to be in a better school. I would also like to improve my home buy carpets etc. and own my home one day. This can only be possible only if I can improve by business that is already having growth prospects.

Loan Proposal

This loan will cater for my deficit which am struggling to raise. I have a new line of beads I want to introduce to my market both for earring, necklaces and jewellery.
My biggest headache will be taken away as this beads will enable me sell even more but they are only done by a specific artist on order.

I will use 50 dollars of this loan to source for beads for handcraft purposes. They are made by our Masaai community in Kenya. They will be custom made for the purpose of Trena Beauty Shop.

I will use the rest say 60 dollars on cotton materials that I require for wallets and bags. This is another unique item which will bring a change.

I will hope to repay this loan then continue to grow my business patiently as pertains to the principals laid down by Zidisha organisation.

I believe sky is the limit for my handcrafts.
