About Me

My name is Barakah Mohammed. I am an educator from Nigeria. I have taught Mathematics in secondary schools for over 10 years. I am currently the Junior School coordinator at a private secondary school in Kaduna, Nigeria. I also have interest in fashion designing. I intend to start up a training school for fashion design within the next one year. I was inspired to start a fashion business because Tailors were rarely able to sew nice well fitting clothes as I am plus sized.

My Business

My idea is to buy equipment ( sewing machines, tables, chairs) and materials (fabric, pressing iron, sewing materials) to set up a training school for women ages (18 and above) to help them become self reliant by teaching them sewing skills and how to make some items of clothing they can easily sell to make some money to help them live a comfortable life. This is because I have noticed that many of the women in my community are unable to provide the basics for themselves.

Loan Proposal

I would buy fabrics and make clothes to sell in organisations around me as I do not have a business place yet so I sew out of my home. I intend to also showcase the clothes on social media. I will also carry out sponsored ads on Facebook and Instagram.

Income Source

I would make dresses and sell on social media, money realized from selling will be used to pay back the loan

I suffered a loss in funds from my bank account through a POS scam and my account was cleared.

I was able to purchase fabric with the last loan and I made some dresses that I just sold off. I am still building my client base so sales are not as swift but with the digital marketing course I just did, I am sure I will be able to market better.
My earnings increased a little as I was able to make a variety of sizes because I had more money

I intend to buy fabrics with the funds to make ready to wear clothes. Profit realized from the business will help in paying for my education.

I appreciate all who have contributed to the funds to be given to me.
