About Me

My name is Catherine Wainaina, and I come from Nakuru but was born and raised in Kiambu County. I went to Kamirithu Primary School, joined high school in Kabokiek Girls, and then went to Polytechnic and did a Beauty Course for 6 months after I moved to Nakuru to help my sister, as she had delivered. While in Nakuru, I used to go to a salon to do my hair, and my friendship with the salon owner started to grow. Luckily, after some time, I talked to her about giving me a job and she offered it without hesitation. I worked with her for a year and managed to save some cash, and then decided to start a salon of my own in a different estate where I now live after moving from my sister's place.

I like singing, socializing, and swimming. I have a daughter whom I delivered last year and would like to teach her beauty when she grows up. I like traveling, too, and during Christmas holiday, I went home to Kiambu County, to a place called Limuru. I met a former classmate with whom I talked extensively, and she told me about Zidisha. I visited her home, and to my surprise, I saw how she had planted carrots, which is amazing, and this made me want to do farming, too, as my mother has a piece of land which she doesn't utilize to its maximum, due to her age. So, I thought if I could raise some cash alongside some I already have saved, we could do something together.

My Business

I own a beauty shop where I do manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, hairdressing, shaving, and selling of beauty products. Everybody wants to look beautiful, so my services are always in demand by campus students, married working-class ladies, children, etc. They all visit me for the good service. I chose this business due to my passion for it and the growth in female population in my country, as well as beauty products being affordable and readily available. I make a profit of 250 to 350 USD in a good business month; however, when schools are on holiday, I make up to 500 USD. I use the money to buy products for my shop, pay the shop rent, pay my house rent, feed my daughter, and generally provide for our basic needs. I also send some money for my mother back in the village.

Loan Proposal

if I get this loan I buy beans variety shangi ,carrots seedlings variety nantes and kale ,spinach, sukumawiki, buy manure all at 40usd and.prepare land at 20 usd, then I will use the money I get from my beauty shop to pay the loan and facilitate the growth harvest and transportation of the products,I will then sale a sack of caroots at 4500 ksh the beans i will sale localy at 3000ksh per sack i estimate to harvest 9 to 12 sacks, using manure will make my input cost cheaper and increase my production so I think this is a great idea as I will make a profit of 35000ksh after all expenses and inputs.
