About Me

Thank You for your interest in my profile. My name is Dorcas Wanjiku, I am 22 years old. I live in a place called Mwea that is located in Kirinyaga County, Central Kenya. I grew up in a humble family , and I have been brought up by my mum alone after her separation with Dad. Attaining education is the best thing that has happened in my life so far. My mom struggled to the very end to ensure that all of us have attained at least secondary level of education even after being the only bread winner in a family of 6. I have a passion for early childhood education. Unfortunately, my mom cannot pay my university fees to raise my school fees. I have already Identified a school where I can learn the course on part time basis in order to save on cost. I have also started a business that I will use its profits to save for my school Fees.

My Business

About my business, I run a stall that is located at our home. Our immediate neighbors are a rice milling company. I have taken the advantage and started selling rice packaging sacks and PVC papers as well as fiber strings for packaging the rice. It is only a small business, and I am confident that it will grow with the help of dear lenders from Zidisha community. In the near future, I am planning to start selling soft drinks at this stall since Mwea is a very sunny place. The continuity of this business is guaranteed since I run it from my home, and I do not pay any rent, I am very confident that it will help me raise my school fees. I hope to partner with you dear members to make my dream come true:-)

Loan Proposal

When my loan has been fully funded, I intend to add more stock in my stall. I will buy more rice packaging sacks, more papers of various and different sizes, as well as fiber strings. Usually, I purchase one sack that has a capacity of 25kg at $ 0.11 and resell at about $ 0.25, I also purchase 50 kg sacks at $ 0.17 each and resell each at about $ 0.33. I intend to use 50% of the loan in purchasing 50kg capacity sacks and 25kg capacity sacks. I will also buy more fiber and the remaining amount will be used to purchase soft drinks for retailing at my premise. I will use the profits to repay the loan, as well as saving for my university fees.

Hello Zidisha Team, I am sorry about being silent with the loan repayment. At the moment, there is very little supply of rice, and it has directly affected by business. I have been working on a plan to start distributing the packaging sacks around the town. I am thankful for your patience, and courtesy and I will surely get back on my feet soon. Please accept my loan reschedule proposal.
