Dear zidisha lenders i managed to buy an incubator with the support from the previous loan. i am now looking for funds to purchase eggs and a standby generator because of unreliable power which sometimes goes for over 12 hours. i once was a victim of losses due to lack of standbye generator. i want zidisha lenders to assist me in this and i will be a thousand times greatful.
i am an ethusisatic farmer and since am in an urban area living in a rental house , i can cormfortably do small scale poultry farming until the time i will own my own plot.
I sell chicken for meat and eggs, offer incubation services to my neighbours and also sell day old chicks.
people in my community want to keep poultry, others want eggs to eat and also chicken meat. These goods are in very high demand because they a source of food for livelihood. there is also a big population of people residing in the estate i live.
i also sell vegetables at a small grocery my wife runs.
i use the proceeds to pay school fee for my children and reinvest some back for continuity of my business. i used to keep alot of chicken but now the chicken house is empty and i need to revive it. i took most of the money i had invested to pay for my college fees. I get other income from tutoring students but it is not sustaining. i t costs me 50 kg of poultry feed to feed 100 chicks for two weeks then i sell.
i get a profit of kes fifty per chick whether it is day old or two weeks old.
My future goal is to have a dairy cow, chicken and a larger incubator to offer hatching services to people in my community. i uausally buy eggs at 20 kes each incubate and sell day old chick between 80 kes and 110 kes depending on the breed.
i have ten improved breeds of kienyeji form which i collect seven eggs daily on average and due to lack of capital , i have been feeding them maize, food scraps and kales from my farm. I sell an average of two big chicken weekly at an average of KES 1200 weekly. i Achieve this by buying some chicken from thee loca lmarket, feed them for a month or less and sell at a profit.
thanks
with the zidisha loan.i will be able to buy a standby generator for my incubators in order to avoid losses during electricity blackout. i incurred a lot of losses when power went off for a whole day and i was not around my home to take other measures.
A generator i want to buy costs ksh 25000 so with my savings and contributions from friend coupled by the zidisha loan of 11000 i know i would have minimised one risk.
