About Me

I am a female Kenyan aged 58yrs, a widow and a mother of three children both adults. I live in Uhanya Village, Usenge Sub-Location, West Yimbo Ward, Siaya County. I dropped from school in form two in 1972, due to lack of school fee, then joined teaching practice. After teaching for twenty three years I quit teaching to take care of my family especially my ailing husband who later passed on in 2003. Currently, I am a Community Health Worker (CHW), I joined in 2008. I was introduced by a family friend who convinced to join CHW’s, since then I have never looked back. Here we work alongside Doctors, Clinical officers and nurses to improve service delivery in hospitals and dispensaries.

My Business

Fist, I started as a volunteer, and then I was contracted by the Government and other NGO’s. I receive monthly and quarterly payments from Government and NGO’s respectively. The payments totals to $ 208 per month. Being widowed eleven years ago, I have managed to take care of my family and myself by providing basic necessities and paying school fee for my younger son.
In 2012, I got a contract to supply two health centers with laboratory equipments. The business is doing well as I make annual profit of $ 1450, though as with any Government Contracts payments are made after the supply is done and within six months. With Loan from Zidisha, I will efficiently supply the equipments and expand the same to other health centres and dispensaries. This will increase my income thus improving my living standard. I will service the loan on time as I have two separate sources of income.

Loan Proposal

Once again thank you for accepting me to join Zidisha, as I said in my profile I got a contract to supply two health centres with laboratory equipments. The contract is worth $4058 and I will get a profit of $1250 payable in six months period, meantime I will use my wages/ bonus from the Government and NGO to service the loan while I wait for the payment from the contract. The deadline for the supply is 31st July, 2014, therefore I kindly place my request for your assistance to funding my project.
