I am the first born in the family of seven siblings, one of us passed on in the year of 2003. I was born and raised up in western part of Kenya namely vihiga county in the year 1966. I went to school at Givole Primary School between 1975 to 1982 and later attended my secondary level of education in the year of 1983 till 1986, I stayed at home for year being a farmer, then towards the end of that year, I came to the city of Nairobi where I joined The Dormans coffee company. I quit in 1992 and joined African heritage company to pursue my passion in fine art and painting, a trade that I did until 1997 before I was recalled back to Dormans coffee company.
At Dormans, I have had intensive training in quality control, logistics, pest controls and good international food handling standards. I am also privileged to head the department in our company which deals with giving back to the community, currently we over assistance to an orphanage school in Kibera called the little Rock ECD.
I am married to one wife called Lidia Ichech, blessed with two children namely Albright Vuyanzi and joel Ingavi, first being in class five, and Class three respectively.
Along working with Dormans Coffee company, I began my own project of rearing fish of which I have prepared one fish pond. And herein is where I need help from zidisha.
Acute shortage of fish supply in the country, and government has gone forward to encourage people to practice Aqua culture as a means of fighting poverty. I have done extensive research on this subject with the assistance of the government extension officers I have established a ready market.
The cost sinking one fish pond is $174, which I have already taken care of
Labor cost was $116 , which also I have taken care of
This particular pond has the capacity to hold 1000 fingerlings which costs $116
The cost for food is $58
A fully grown fish sales at $3 therefore at maturity, I expect to harvest between $3000
I hereby request zidisha to help me purchase the fingerlings and also buy food which will cost me $174
This project I have began at my rural home in vihiga county. I hope to inspire the locals to take up fish farming as a means of combating poverty at the success of the project.
I got a ready market for supply of used newspapers, and the company I work for has them in plenty, I plan to use this money for this purpose. Will be sharing progress on this venture as it progresses. The newspapers from my company cost`s 20 Kenya shillings, and the selling price is 70 Shillings, This project will require some helping hands and hence open up a window for some jobless youth to put at least some bread on their table, and also improve my life.
Thanks and regards
