About Me

Am a 51 year old male, Christian, married with 6 children aged between 5-25. I am employed by Mugaa Secondary School and a small scale farmer. I didn’t do very well in my “O” levels due to poor family background, but I have done my best, saving Ksh 100,000 to buy my own piece of land at Kianjoya/Block/1508, 2.5 acres during the year 2003. I brought up my children, the 3rd born is at Mugaa Secondary School 4th year, and the younger at primary school. My salary is only Ksh 5000 per month and therefore the goats helps in milk supply and selling a young when problems arise.

My Business

Through Mwako Self Help Group I received a dairy goat, which I intend to make more profit oriented and add some 2 she goats. I have noted that without supplementing with the right concentrates and mineral salts, their growth is stunted and their milk production minimal. Through our federation we do sell the dairy goats. They have few diseases and eat a wide variety of foods and trees. On average they eat between 5-10 kg a day. They don’t die of hunger, even during the dry season. They give many kids in a given period. They give 2 or more every 5 months and your milk supply is assured all the year around. I look forward to receive good news from you. My last loan of 30,000 Ksh was through Mwako Self Help Group and I finished paying on 15.10.2011.

I have attached a copy of the recommendation letter from the area chief Mr James Kimani Mwangi of phone number 0724857315

Loan Proposal

Thank you for the financial support over the last year. I will live to remember where you found me and where i am now courtesy of zidisha. Having completed paying my previous loan, am applying for another one of sh 30000. My first loan helped me to buy two more dairy goats making a flock of four. So far all have sired and now i have a total of eight. Two kids die shortly after birth. If my loan request is granted, i intend to enlarge the current housing unit of the animals to avoid congestion. This calls for the following expenses:
1. five iron sheets sh 800@ * 5 = sh 4000.
2. post sh 200@ *10 = sh 2000
3. timber 250 ft * 30@ =7500
4. nails sh 3 * 120 @ =sh 360
I have carpentry skills so i will do the construction.
The remaining amount will go towards the purchase of two more young dairy goats at a cost of sh 6000@. The remaining amount will go towards the purchase of dewormers, dairy meal and minerals. I will also and another feeding trough. Currently, am milking all the three goats producing average of four liters in total. Two of the liters of milk are for domestic consumption and two for sale. Each liter costs sh 30 locally. On average i may earn at least sh 1800 per month. This amount not only caters for the animals but also in meeting some family expenses. My projection is such that with a flock of six lactating goats its to earn at least sh 5000. That will definitely enable me to buy a cow ( a heifer) which my next project. I can confirm that our health status has remained at its best because dairy goats is very nutritious. One of our daughters was given a prescription of taking goat milk two glasses per day due joint problems and she is really improving. The of saving to the family in terms the avoided expenses makes me to want to do more in dairy goat farming. I look forward to positive response to my request and promise to measure up to your expectation once the request materializes.
Thank you in advance.
