About Me

my name is mariam Tembo i live in mtwapa in mobasa kenya. am married live with my family which includes my husband and my son. i live in mtwapa mikanjuni. my son is called Brighton he is two years old.mu occupation is charcoal vendor shop.my education is form four secondary level of kenya o level. after finishing my secondary form four level some later i joined a nearby college in mombasa where i learned hotel and management.i started this business because first i wanted to be a woman who could be able to earn money so that i can improve my living standard. with what i earn from my business i do purchase things like food for my family paying of my house rent for my family and for myself. i also pay school fees for my family and the rest i buy or add stocks of my charcoals to my shop .

My Business

my business is charcoals i buy charcoals and sell them to the people within and around mtwapa. i buy charcoals from the manufactures and sell them to the consumers. i buy t5his products in large quantity and bring them into my shop, after taking this products into my shop i do split some into small quantity so that i can make them cheap and affordable to the people around the village. and i also sell large quantity to the res taunts and to the hotels within. the demand of thids products is very high here in mtwapa because it mtwapa here there is quite a good number of people living here due to its fast growth rate. the demand is also very high because most of the people living here in mtwapa are locals who live with not more that ksh 500 so mostly use charcoals for their home use either for cooking foods or for barbeque. due of the high cost of the kerosine most of the people they buy charcoals for their home use.my customers prefer buying from me because i give them a better price to all .this business is profitable because i buy this charcoal at a price of ksh 400 and when it is in my shop i sell it at a cost of 1200 so this is giving me a profit of ksh 800. so it is profitable.the risks of this business is during the raining season when it is raining then this products becomes had to get them and due of this the buying prices do increase. my monthly running cost is ksh 30,000. and my monthly sales revenues is ksh 70,000. this is giving me a monthly profit of ksh 40,000

Loan Proposal

Thank you zidisha, for the effort you did in making my loan application a success. With this loan i want to boost my loan by adding more products to my business. So with my loan i will use ksh 10,000 to buy charcoal and ksh 10,000 to buy firewood, and ksh 5,000 will be for transport expenses. With this boost i will have added value to the business.

Borrower stopped communicating before May payment was due and has paid nothing back. Hopefully efforts to contact her will succeed and if she is able repayments will start. At the very least, I hope we will get an update on her situation.

Thanks Samuel for your efforts at contacting her. Hopefully you will succeed soon.

I phoned Mariam today 1.26pm but she did not pick my call. Her community leader's number is not working.

Jambo Mariam, and greetings from a friend in the US. I'm curious how your charcoal business is coming along and how you and your family are doing. Hope all is going well for you. In reading your biography I see that you studied hotel management at a local college. I'm wondering if you have plans to get a job in that field? Take care and good luck in the future.

Hello, swendl am so happy to hear from you! Am fine with my family and the business is doing great! Am so much delighted to note that you wanted to know my expectation as in my career. Am so much willing to acquire a job as a hotelian since this would add earnings and improve my life standard, but here its hard to find a good paying job and this is the main reason why i ventured into business. But if i could get a reasonable one i would be happy.
