Iam a Kenyan citizen aged 37 years old.I live within Nakuru county in Turners shabab. Iam a diploma holder iin secretarial duties and as well practiced in the management of CBOs and NGOs in various capapcities having received training in the fields of financial management and project management.I have a family of four children and all are in school. I started second hand clothes what we now here call mitumba business to raise my standard of living as well as raising my income. The way life is now, it needs supplementation and addition onto what you have to survive. One way cannot be the solution in the current life.
What i purchase with my earnings depends on the needs assessment, priorities at that time. But all in all, i purchase food stuffs, clothing , shelter , education for my children and the rest goes into business. This has really boosted my life since all the basic needs are met without much ado.
My business is mitumba business( Second hand clothes).I have done this business for the last ten years and i usually specialize in children's and women's wears. This are also very easy to sell since women love themselves and as well loves their children.
Theres always demand on this type of clothes because of selection and i always go for quality. My clients prefer my business since i have introduced incentives for regular customers, goods and services are always available when needed and i make sure that satisfaction of my customers is the bottom line and my cutting edge against my competitors.
The margin is good after all deductions done and therefore profitable. The risks are averse if not well countered in he sense that you don't purchase and have quality as per the clients needs. We succeed in this by doing research from our clients what type of clothes they would prefer so that as we bring to them its already bought. This has given us due advantage over those who buy according to their own need as preferred to their clients.Competition is another challene, market, pricing and promotion. But we have been able to overcome this through constant consultation with our clients and through adequate marketing research. Our typical monthly costs runs to KES.30,000 and sales, Revenue and profit is twice this at KES.65,000 a month. This is after all deductions.
The loan will be spent on purchasing children's wear, women's wear. This is what i have specialized in and now that we are heading towards Christmas festivities, there is a high demand for this type of clothes.I have already had orders for some specifications in children/women wears and the loan will greatly have a very positive impact towards my business. As well, the loan will add value, trust and confidence in my clients. This will establish a long term customer relations hence good business at a good base. I look forward to working closely with my lenders and shall hence forth continue giving progressive reports on the results of the loan.
