About Me

My name is Mary Wanjiru Nganga I was born in 1984 at wanjohi in Nyandarua county, I joined kamahia primary school In the year 1990 and for eight year I was a pupil in that school doing my primary education, in 1997 I did my final exam which I did well. In the year 1998 I joined Manunga girl’s high school for my secondary education up to 2001 where I did my K.C.S.E. which is the final secondary exam here in Kenya. In the year 2002 I joined Tracom College for course in food production for two years where I graduated with a diploma in the same field. I went working with many hotels until when I decided to try self employment. I settled in vending fresh fruits in my home town of wanjohi at the slopes of Aberdare Mountains a great historical feature here in Kenya. This is my business up to date. I am a single lady blessed with two children.

My Business

My business is basically specialized in the sale of fresh fruits in my vending point at wanjohi town which is based at the slopes of Aberdare Mountains in Nyandarua County. I started this kind of business after I realized there was great demand of fresh fruits in this town and beyond. Wanjohi town is a very busy town with a good population of people who mostly are farmers. They frequent the town everyday making it a point of beehive activities in search of farm inputs. It is here that I capitalized in the demand of fresh fruits to make a living. I usually buy my stock from the city of Nairobi which is the hub of business here in Kenya. The fruits that I sell are both local and exotic ones. The best oranges and apples are imported from South Africa while other fruits are found locally. This is because no fruits are grown in my area due to cold weather farmers only grow potatoes. My business does well and on a good day I can make UDS$ 100 which gives me a net profit of USD$ 40. These proceeds are helpful because I am able to educate my children and help my aging parents. Most people prefer to buy from my vending point because my fruits are fresher and cheaper than those of my competitors. The worst challenge my business faces is luck of enough capital to stock mare fruit for better business turn over, with zidishaa platform I will be able to overcome the same, I look forward to be a zidisha member.

Thank you so much zidisha team for allowing me to be a member of the best platform on this part of the world. i now have a chance of improving my business. for this loan i will add more stock of fresh fruits to my vending outlet to serve my customers even better for increased profits which i will rollover for better performance. it will also help me to pay back my loan on time while maintaining good relationship with my lenders. be blessed.
