About Me

I am the first born in a family of 5 children and our father died while we were young. My mother struggled with small scale farming to ensure food was on the table and went to school with no enough school supplies but I persevered and finally completed my secondary education. I joined my mother in working at our farm to increase yields so that other siblings could completed education. They successfully completed and later moved to Nairobi to seek employment where I got as night guard. I use part of my salary to invest in farming back in rural areas and now the yields are good whereby part of the profit from the farming is used to support my children education and my ailing mother.

When am not working, you will find me jogging with my family members around the farm as I am committed to ensuring they have frequent exercise for good health.

My Business

I have been farming for over 10 years and the yields have been reducing season by season but I have undergone training facilitated by the agriculture extension officer and now I have embraced new technology thus my yields are better. I am involved in farming maize, beans and vegetables and sale off to the local people and institution thus reducing food insecurity in the community. My cost are minimal per session because I do use community labor and manures from my farm domestic animals. Profits from my business are partly for expansion as well as providing quality education to my children and good health care to my ailing mother.

Loan Proposal

I am employed as a night guard but also actively engaged in farming of maize, beans and vegetables. I intend to use part of my salary and loan from Zidisha to buy water pump at $ 125 so that I can effectively be watering my crops to increase the yields. Increase in yield will lead to selling to more local people and institution hence reducing food insecurity in the community. Selling to more people and institution will lead to high profit which I will use to expand my farming business and partly provide quality education to my children and better healthy care to my ailing mother. I will dedicate part of my salary to paying for the loan as it is guarantee that every month I receive salary and this will reduce pressure from my farming business and enable the business to grow.
