About Me

My name is Millicent Adongo. I was born and raised in Kericho county where I also attended my school. I went to college in Kisumu county forKNR. Am in a family of ten siblings. My Dad passed away leaving my mother a widow so we had to start fending for ourselves.
I started a small business by then I only had a son. But later I had three other kids two twins both girls and my last born son. So I had to work extra hard to increase my income. I went into potato and vegetable farming. They are also well paying but like for the potatoes I have to wait for four months to harvest. I started poultry farming not only to increase my income but also have it on a regular basis like weekly to monthly.
Not so many farmers are into kienyeji chicken rearing in our are because it is urbanised community. The weather is extremely cold. My children want to join in my business when they grow up.
When I have free time,I read or watch movies. I also enjoy going to the gym.

My Business

My 7 hens hatched 65 chicks Then I bought 35 more. I will rear them for a period of 4 months then separate the cocks from the hens. I shall sell the cocks & buy breeder cocks with a ratio of 1 cock to 7 hens. I keep on increasing the number of chicks on a monthly basis at 54.3 dollars in order to be able to sell later every month to carter for their feed at5.45 dollars a week. This business helps me pay school fees for my children. Since many prefer kienyeji chicken as food, they are fast moving. They are less costly to feed once grown as they are introduced to the free range method. I am requesting for a loan in order to increase their numbers since the space is available and able to hold to 1000 birds. I chose to rear kienyeji since it is not Labour intensive, they are less prone to diseases therefore more pocket friendly. I am determined to make it a success.

Loan Proposal

I need the loan in order to increase the number of chicks with 40 at $54.35 then maintain them with the income from my already grown cocks. With 40 chicks grown into hens and cocks, the layers will increase the number of chicks while the cocks will be sold either to buy feed or more layers. Definitely that will improve my income hence a better livelyhood.
With an increment of 40 chicks to mature hens and cocks,I intend to make a profit of 4000/ in a month on egg and cock sales after buying feeds.
