About Me

My name is Jonah Njenga Gikonyo. Am a first born to a family of five. I have three sisters and one brother.

Our home is situated in a place known as Lessos Forest Kitale Kenya. Latitude 1° 1' 8.72"N
Longitude 35° 0' 8.30"E.

I started schooling in the mid 90's, in a primary school known as Lessos Primary School in Kitale Kenya. I then transferred to a private school that goes by the title Purpose Driven Educational Centre. I did my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in the year 2005 and managed to obtain 340 marks out of 500 and secured myself a chance at Kabarnet High School in Baringo, Kabarnet Town. At my stay-and-learn in Kabarnet High school I engaged myself in various activities. In 2007 I took my science project to a provincial level and scooped the 3rd place.
In the year 2008 I was in the drama team which unfortunate didn't go past regional level.
By the end of year four that was in 2009 I scored a mean grade of B and thereafter joined Maseno University in the year 2010. Took a couse by the title Bsc. Applied Statistics With IT. While in Maseno in the year 2011 we formed a group of three by the name VA- Authentic which we help in trouble shooting computers problems and offered valid solutions. It thereafter change name to Laptop Garage which we expounded our ideas from not only trouble shooting but repairing them and even started selling laptops at affordable prices.
It is then that an idea of my own business came into my mind. I had several ideas of my business to be, and after a long time in assessing and eliminating ideas I narrowed down to one the sale of cereals products.

Am currently owning a cereal shop and doing my attachment at Kingsway Tyres Limited at Kakamega Branch, Which started on 15th May 2014 and will end on 15th August 2014.

I like computers a lot that is operating them or even repairing them software-wise or even hardware-wise. I also like playing football and also playing Play Station games.

My Business

My business name is JNG Cereals. That thought of owning a cereal shop came into mind when I was challenged by my closest friend who now has 3 shops i.e. two retail shops and one wholesale shop. The cereal shop kicked off on 15th April 2014 at a Faith Plaza in Kitale town.
In my business I only deal with cereal products such as; Wheat, Maize, Rice, Beans, Sorghum, Cow peas, Millet etc. I chose this products due to the demand in the market basin my ideas in it’s not only a Human want but Basic. The place where the shop is situated is very strategic i.e. It is a very populated area. By this I mean the place is full of middle class residents such that it suite the mode of sales done in my shop. At the moment I only deal with retail sale. The other main reason is that, at the moment my shop covers a two kilometers area of a radius of before one encounters another Cereal shop. This gives me a free platform of doing business without a lot of competition. The shop is also state-of-art such that there are neither rodents nor harmful insects to spoil the stored goods. Also, the doors are well build such that thieves cannot easily break into it. The other reason as to why my business is firm is because I have well done revised the prices to suite the customers so to never think of the next shop. This was done at thoroughly after consulting other shop’s prices. The last but not least reason is that my cereal products are quality grade thus giving customers a reason to always come back for more.
On the other hand there are some several challenges that the business faces. But the biggest of the all is lack of enough funds. This leads to limiting the capital allocated to the stock. This is usually a challenge when customers come for more goods only to find out the shop has run out of the stock of that particular good.
The other challenged faced due to lack of enough funds is acquiring a singled business license. Without this one cannot be authorized to transact any business.
My monthly profit: USD 333.90
My monthly cost is as follows:
Transport Allowance USD 12.50
Workers Salary USD 58.40
Workers Food Allowance USD 16.70
Electricity bill USD 8.30
Security bill USD 12.50
The source of income from this business of mine (JNG CEREALS) will help me repay my loan. With this loan I will be able to expand my business thus be able to even take a bigger loan.

Loan Proposal

My name is Jonah Njenga Gikonyo. Am a first born out of a family of five. I have three sisters and one brother.
I attended Maseno University, and while in campus it is then that an idea of my own business came into my mind this was due some challenges posed by my own colleagues. I had several ideas of my business to be, and after a long time in assessing and eliminating ideas I narrowed down to one the sale of cereals products.
In my business I only deal with cereal products such as; Wheat, Maize, Rice, Beans, Sorghum, Cow peas, Millet etc but due to limited funds I only sell rice, and sugar. I chose these products due to the demand in the market basin my ideas on; it’s not only a Human want but a very Basic one. The place where the shop is situated is very strategic i.e. it is a very populated area. By this I mean the place is full of middle class residents such that it suite the mode of sales done in my shop. At the moment I only deal with retail sale.
On the other hand there are some several challenges that the business faces. But the biggest of the all is lack of enough funds. This leads to limiting the capital allocated to the stock. This is usually a challenge when customers come for more goods only to find out the shop has run out of the stock of that particular good or it was yet introduced.
The main reason I want a loan is; I intend to increase the stock that is; rice, beans, ground nuts and even introduce new products such as millet, sorghum and corns.
The other big reason is; the rate of business growth should be fast such that a whole sale department should also be introduced.
This will enable customers to have a variety of choice thus increasing my income.
