About Me

Am Anthony Maina. A Kenyan citizen. Am a small-scale farmer & a fully qualified Accountant by profession. I have a master's degree in finance but with a great passion for farming and for helping a certain section of people in my community. These are the Elderly, the underpriviledged and the youth. This is after living in the village and realising the difficulties such people go through. Doing farming, i noticed i can be able to earn some income and also be able to supply food at subsidised prices nt to mention for free when i have surpluses as a corporate social responsibility.

The proceeds from my farming business as previously said, is largely geared to help my local community especially the youth, the elderly and underprivileged people. I.e. employment or capacity building to the youth to minimize substance abuse and crime, providing simple nursing care to the elderly people, basic needs like food, water, water storage containers, firewood etc to the elderly and underprivileged people.

My Business

https://youtu.be/-r9dSBTqmzc

My day-to-day business is farming and simple livestock keeping. I do have seedbeds for cabbages, kales, fruits, trees seedlings for sale to my local community in Miiri village, Mathira East constituency.

As mentioned earlier, most of my farm produce and income goes to helping the elderly and underprivileged people in my immediate community in order to improve people's living standards especially when it comes to afford basic needs.

With the onset of the short rains in October, I would like to construct an artificial dam to collect water for farming. This will involve plastic dam liners and labour for digging the dam which will cost me around kshs 35,000. Generally, Farming is facing challenges due to climatic changes and the dam will come in hardy when it comes to water for irrigation in the farm.

Project Proposal

I will purchase assorted seedlings for sowing to have seedlings for sale and for planting at home. I will sell the seedlings and the vegetables that I will plant at home. I will also buy some pellets for my rabbits to make them grow healthy inorder to get a good market for them.

    Hello.
first is my sincere apologies for the late payments. I faced unexpected disruptions in life and in my day-to-day business but I am slowly trying to adjust or rather recover. I intend to go to the farthest that Zidisha can take me and so I still have the will to pay / clear as soon as possible.

I am a small-scale farmer rearing pig, rabbits, and goats. I also have seedlings of assorted nature like kales, cabbages, spinach, ornamental trees, etc. I would like to expand my business by buying more stock, especially on the seedlings and the pig's food. I also have a coffee farm with a few trees which I am trying to revive back so I will also buy some chemicals to spray and foliar feeds to increase the harvest.

this way I will be able to increase my income by hopefully 30 to 40 %. this will help me to cater to my personal needs and also to my family.

I thank all my funders and also other Zidisha funders for making our dreams come true. Indeed its such a good platform to help each other.

Hello. First of all I would like to apologise for being late with a week or so before clearing my loan. It's been tough especially due to the global pandemic but finally we are there.

Secondly, am so much grateful to my lenders who put their monies aside to help me with my first loan and to the entire Zidisha crew who manages this awesome platform.

Thirdly is to let you know that my business has really benefited from your financial support. I will be a bit different here I guess but its something reat that I have noted. When a devoted entrepreneur who is in of progression, with short resources, but hopeful for a positive finacial support, he or she will always expel energy wise with his or her endeavours. That's exactly what Zidisha and my lenders did to me.

I have managed to organize myself better interms of thoughts, achieving my short term goals and above all, I have heard good feedback from my target population (the elderly and the underprivileged people in my community)

How are you good people? It's my hope you are fine and keeping on well. I have been able to continue with my projects well. The rabbits are increasing on well. Currently I have 3 mothers with their own kits. The seedlings are also prospering on well although the harsh weather is deterring customers to buy the seedlings for planting since there is little or no rain at all. But I have seen some good improvements in the farm.

Thanks so much for your support. Its indeed an awesome feeling ..

God willing if I get support next time I need to consider a bigger water tank to eliminate the water problem.
Thanks to my current lenders and also to all zidisha lenders who come in to fill in to our gaps.

Hello. I would like to adjust my instalments due some unexpected challenges.

One, there has been a continued decline when it comes to rainfall. I use a lot of water in the farm for irrigation purposes on my plants. The water problem forced me to purchase water from local suppliers in order to save my plants from drying up. Buying water is a bit costly and this has messed up with my cashflow forecasts.

All in all I am trying all I can to clear up my dues.

Thanks for giving me this option to adjust my installments. I have 2 debtors who owe business money and they had promised to honor their debts this week. This never happened and it has put me in a very awkward situation. One person explained to me that his daughter is currently at agakhan hospital and on top of that he had an uncles burial on Wednesday leaving him with so many expenses thus not able to give me any money.

I sympathized with the family and we agreed to give each other some more time as they recover financially. Am not able to reach the other person.

I will truly appreciate if my plea is accepted. It’s my wish to increase my loan limits and it’s so unfortunate this has happened in my first installment.

    Hope this is understandable.

    Kind regards
    Anthony.
