About Me

My name is okoyo Jacob,I a am the first born in a family of five.Two boys and 3 girls. I was forced to drop out of school at form 3 level after my parents divorced.Both of them would die 3 months later in mysterious circumstances. I could not afford to stay in school due to lack of fees. My siblings too who were still in primary school could not stay in school. i started looking for a job to sustain my bills and that of my siblings who were like my kids. I worked hard as a farm hand in neighbours farms and managed to take them to school.since the government was providing books and other materials ,i was relieved a bit.
My income as a farm hand was so meager, it could not sustain me and my siblings . I went to Busia town to look for a job and landed one as a cleaner in a gym. I soon started training and my boss , promoted me to a gym instructor. I worked as a gym instructor for two years. I was determined to own my own gym. I talked to one client who was my good friend about my idea and he agreed to lend me $500. I had $300 in savings. Armed with $800 I traveled to kisumu to get weights and bars for training. I was shocked to learn $800 could only buy a dumbbell , and 120kgs weights!!I knew I had a long way to go, I called my friend and asked to refund him back his money because my mission could not be accomplished,but he advised me to buy fabricated weights which were cheaper. true to his words I inquired about them and got they were much cheaper and could do smiler function. i decided to go for them. My gym is now 1 year old,debt free and growing. I believe i will make it!!
In our community the unique culture is that men go through a rite of passage that involves removal of six lower teeth,though these culture is dying,its our most unique culture.
I have just got married and we are yet to have kids. But my four siblings are interested in Economics. I am working smart to ensure they dont drop out of school like me.
I play soccer and watch soccer and rugby during my free time.

My Business

I provide services ,which include weight lifting and aerobics.These services are important because they keep people healthy and fit.
I choose the business because I had worked in a gym for long and developed passion in it . I thought it was the most profitable business idea.
I spend $200 in rent and power and my revenues are $500 in a month. I use my profits mainly for taking care of my young family,and paying school fees for my siblings.I save 20% for business expansion and improvement.

Loan Proposal

I am kindly requesting lenders to help me buy a water dispenser for my gym. These will help me market my gym more and increase my profits. I will be glad for your support. I will use the $100 loan to buy a new water dispenser at $120 . I will top up using my savings.thank you in advance.
