My name is Shadrack wesonga ,I was born 24 year ago and married with one child . I am the second born among three children. My parents died while I was in form three . My dad died of acute malaria and my mother succumbed to cancer a year later. The death of my parents made my life to take a completely different direction. We moved from to stay with my grandmother who is old and blind. There was no any source of income and so I had to drop out of school in my third in secondary school. I had to work in peoples farms to buy food for my grandmother and myself. My dear grandmother passed on last a few months later and I remained with my young brother. The future looked bleak. I had to struggle to keep my young brother in school. I started farming in 2013, I could work in people’s farms in the morning and in my own farm at in the evening I could plant kales in a small garden and sell them to neighbors and also used it as food. I soon realized these were a good business if I could expand my farm. I asked my brother to help me clear and till One acre farmhand planted kales. I got a tender to supply a local secondary school and since then my life changed. I currently have 2 acres of land under assorted horticulture.
I am a soccer fun and when not in my farm, I spend time watching football with friends.
My business entails vegetables farming .I mainly plant vegetables like kales and cabbages in my two acres piece of land and sell them to school and individuals.
The demand for vegetables is high due to the nutritive value. Since all household consume vegetables daily and only few produce the demand is higher than the supply.
I started farming to help me sustain myself and support my family. Farming was the only business that required little capital and had good returns.
My typical costs per month are between$100- $ 150 and my monthly average income is $250-$350 per month depending on the season.
I use the profits from the farm to save for expansion and to educate my young brother who is currently in secondary school.
I wish to request you to fund my loan to enable me buy a wheelbarrow that I would use for transportation within my farm. The wheelbarrow will help me reduce work load of carrying heavy crates on my back which has been affecting my health and giving me back aches hence reducing my productivity in the farm. The wheelbarrow will help me work more in my farm hence increasing production and revenues.
