My name is Mary Githogori, 30 years old, a single mother with three kids. Am the first born in a family of four, born and raised inNyeri county. I am self motivated and focused to give my kids the best.
I started my education in Kiangi primary then later joined Chinga girls. In 2003 i joined Jomo Kenyatta University for a diploma course in Information Technology. For the past four years i have been offering cyber services and basis computer studies to my community at Karatina town in Nyeri County. I use my business proceedings to support my kids and my family as well as maintenance in my business.
My business has two major sections. Computer solutions, and cyber cafe and computer studies section. The first section serves as my profit making unit which supports learning unit. Under this unit i focus on printing services, photocopy services and basic stationary sales. The business premise (Jeff computers and cave Cyber) is located at Karatina town, kibaki street, next to post bank. As a way of giving back to the society I started a cybercafé and a computer school to offer basic IT skills to the needy in my community at a subsided cost. This is under the learning unit. In addition i offer printing photocopy services and basic stationary sales my business niche focuses impacting knowledge to form four leavers as they wait to join colleges and other institutions.
My business goals include
1. Offering the best computer skills to students.
2. To reach out to 500 students every year.
3. To be the leading computer solutions services provider.
4. To establish a profitable and sustainable business in computer solutions and stationary sales in two years.
The business unit generates an average of 6000 $ per year. Part of this income is used to support my family while the rest is used in the business as the working capital. The main challenge facing my business currently is limited space, number of computers and technology in use.
The fund raised will help in buying a power generator due to the power outage experience has been bad and having a generator will safe the business a great deal.
