Singing Her Heart Out

By Betsy Ramser Jaime

‘I am Winnie Mataza a Kenyan citizen and a mother of three. I am an upcoming gospel artist, a songwriter, a composer, a singer, an actress, and a member of the Squashers Sanaa club.’

So far, Winnie has produced one album titled, Himidi Bwana which has seven songs including:

  • Himidi Bwana
  • Yesu Peke Yako
  • Kuluhiro Ni Jesu
  • Njooni Kwangu
  • Kifo Cha Yesu
  • Moyo Wangu
  • Jehovah You Are Great

Winnie expresses her upcoming vision by sharing, ‘I have a vision of owning my own Cannon 80D or 90D video Camera so it can ease my music production and film production industries.’

Right now, Winnie primarily makes money in her business by selling her own audio CDs. She hopes that going forward she can also shoot these in video form as well.

A member of the Zidisha community since May 2019, Winnie has been able to use her Zidisha-funded loans to purchase supplies such as blank CDs and CD cover printing papers.

Upon receiving her most recent loan from the Zidisha community she took to her discussion page on August 30, 2022, and said, ‘I’m so grateful for my last project. The money I was funded helped me make 30 copies of my audio music and I sold them to people who needed them. Thank you so much my funders. God bless you.’

Winnie shows that all sorts of entrepreneurs, including those in the creative arts, can find a home within the Zidisha community. Whether you are a farmer, a student looking to raise funds for your university tuition, an owner of a cyber cafe, an artist, or a musician, Zidisha lenders are excited to support business owners from a variety of fields and industries.
