About Me

Born with a lot of energy, intelligence and creativity, I always aspired to become one of the most influencing information technology administrator and engineer after completing my 8-4-4 system. luckily i was able to per sure my dream career of becoming a computer engineer. however, securing a Good career in the IT field has been so tricky and tough which made me to think of another option in order to sustain my life. it is from this that i was inspired empower the local communities through a movement known as Emloc foundation. The aim of this foundation is to build simple and sustainable bio gas and aquaponic systems from locally available materials. These bio gas and aquaponics systems will provide a viable option for Kenyans seeking to grow their own vegetables and fish as well as have a reliable source of energy--cooking gas at very affordable prices.

My Business

Through extensive research, I came to a conclusion that most local small scale farmers have little or no knowledge on the importance of technology in agriculture. for instance, using an aquaponic system would increase the food production of a small scale farmer by allowing him or her grow vegetables as well as rear fish in a similar environment in a limited space.on the other hand, the assimilation of biogas systems would help in the fight on deforestation and pollution by allowing farmers to use efficient source of energy--Bio gas which is consumer and environmental friendly. Closing these loops would make good economic sense: through supporting local agriculture by introduction of cheap aquaponics systems to increase the food production per square unit as well as bio gas digesters to produce efficient fuel. The foundation has installed 20 biogas dig esters in a pilot program to small-scale dairy farms at kirinyaga and Nyeri county at a cost of Sh10,000. On the other hand, the aquaponics projects is already on the ground with atleast 10 projects in the same counties at a cost of 4000kshs-- price points which are at least 90 per cent cheaper than similar projects in the market. The funding from Zidisha fund can be ,very crucial to the Nimlock operations where it would see me reach more farmers, so as to market, buy equipments and educate farmers on the importance of technology in farming. The foundation plans to extend affordable aquaponic and biogas to at least 10,000 farmers over the next two years which will see the project raise more than a million in terms of profit annually. The foundation also has its eye on the larger East African region.

Loan Proposal

A portion of the money from zidisha will aid me in empowering and marketing the biogas systems to the local communities while the rest will budget for equipments used in installing and connecting the biogas and aquaponic systems. Through empowerment and adequate marketing, I forecast that my sales will boost up to a rate of 10 to 15 biogas systems a month while the aquaponics systems may rise to a monthly sale of 10 plants in a month.
