My dad is Albert Korir Boit and my Mum is Ann Jeruto Chepkiyeng. I studied in a school that was approximately 10 km from my home and i was forced to commute every day to ensure that i was educated in order to transform my life. Both of my parents engage in business specifically Agribusiness as their source of livelihood. My parents are my mentors in business activities . In addition to that, i developed interest in business at a tender age and i used to sale fruits & sweets to my schoolmates when i was still in school. Currently, the major obstacle that hinders my success in business is the lack of sufficient capital. It is considering that i am yet to be confirmed by the Teachers Service Commission.
REASONS WHY I STARTED BUSINESS
1. To improve the living standards of my family
2. To meet the daily basic needs
3. Business is my hobby
4. To offer the best products and services to the community living within my business
HOBBIES

I therefore appeal to Zidisha Lenders to consider my application for the loan . I am certain that when offered the loan, I will achieve my dreams in business and transform the lives of the people in the community.
LENG'S POULTRY FARM - FOR FRESH FARM PRODUCTS !! A PLACE WHERE YOUR MONEY IS WORTH!!
My business is known as LENG'S Poultry Farm. It is located at Kimumu a business and residential area 3km drive from Eldoret Town . The place is filled with business premises including hotels, dairy shops and grocery outlets.
My poultry farm is made up of 20 cross-breed chicken . Currently, 10 of the chicken are laying eggs, five are due in a week's time and the rest are cocks.
SOURCE OF CAPITAL
My source of capital is from my personal savings that are accrued from my teaching salary . Besides, the profits acquired from the business are significantly driven back into the growth of the farm. In addition to that, i have a supporting family that are always available to offer a helping hand.
MARKET
My customers are mainly hotels, dairy shops, groceries, schools and the entire community. This type of market is consistent considering that eggs and vegetables are necessities in these business premises all throughout the year . Besides , during holidays and festive seasons, the demand for chicken and its products is at its peak .
In addition to that, when schools and universities are closed, the demand for eggs and vegetables increases.
.
Reasons why customers prefer my business
o I sell at affordable and reasonable prices compared to my competitors
o I provide fresh farm products
o I always maintain good customer relationship
I basically chose to do poultry farming , because there is a small parcel of land that i can comfortably keep my chicken and grow vegetables. Besides, the business is very lucrative especially when practiced in large scale.
The Challenges of the business
Expensive feeds and food supplements
Expensive vaccines
Calculation of expenses and profits of the business.
Since my business is still growing, i have not employed anyone to manage the farm.
EXPENSES
Feeds Kshs 2,000 = USD 19.9
Vaccines Kshs 500 = USD 4.9
Planting Seeds (Vegetables) Kshs 400 = USD 3.9
Total Expenses = USD 28.7
SALES
The Sale of 10 eggs everyday @ Kshs 15 ~ Kshs 150 *30 ~ Ksh 4,500 = USD 44,7
The sale of 5 kg of vegetables everyday @ 30/kg for 15 days ~ Kshs 150 * 15 ~ Kshs 2,250 = 22.38 USD
1 cock every month (Making replacements every two month) `~ Kshs 800 = USD 7.9
Total Sales = USD 74.98
T.Sales - Total Expenses = Profit
USD 74.98 - USD 28.7 = USD 46.28
The profits accrued from my business purchase feeds and vaccines for my chicken. It also provide the basic needs for my small family. In addition to that, my siblings will not lack maintenance money when they get back to school.
I have been thinking to expand my poultry farm for a long period of time, but the lack of sufficient capital has been a great challenge . First , i will increase the number of stock from the initial 20 to 40, considering that the demand for poultry products is increasing everyday significantly. I will go for 1 month old chicks costing USD 29.8 in total. Secondly, the loan will purchase enough feeds consisting of all the essential nutrients i.e ( Proteins, vitamins and Calcium) 6 bags for 3 months @ $7.9 / bag equivalent to $47.7 . Thirdly, the loan will buy planting seedlings ($9.95) and a horse pipe ($10) to irrigate the vegetables when there are no rains. Vegetables are very important in increasing the egg production of the chicken . The remaining cash will purchase more chicken equipment such as feeders and waters ( $10) and vaccines ($19.85).
The expansion of the business will ultimately lead to employment of one or two people at the farm. It will transform my life, my family members, employees and the surrounding community. With these loan at hand and the successful completion of these projects , the profit will increase $46.28 to $ 85 representing 84 percent increase.
