About Me
My name is Martin Mwaba, a Zambian National with a green national registration. I live in Chingola's Chiwemapala Township. I went to Chikola Be Primary School and completed my secondary school at Lulamba Secondary School. After completion of secondary school, I went to Chingola Trades School where I studied Power and Electrical and obtained a certificate. I started working with Konkola Copper Mines in Chingola and I worked for 5 years and until my contract came to an end. After I got my gratuity, I planned to start up a business of fish farming and also growing vegetables. Here in Zambia life is very hard without working hence the money I got helped to start the business. I have the passion for business and my father inspired me to venture into business. Today am running my own business and my business need recapitalization for it to be sustainable and expand in future. With the business am currently doing, am helping my family and children to live a comfortable life. In future I would love my children to go to the University and get better jobs in future.
My Business
Am involved into fish farming and the growing of different vegetable crops. I sale a variety fish products such as bream fish, tiger fish , bottle fish and many more when required by the customers. As for vegetables I grow, rape, cabbage, onion, okra, tomatoes and sweet potatoes. These goods I supply them in market places where women who trade in fish business buy in large quantities. Fish business is good and ran out fast due to high demand especially for people in restaurants. The profit I earn in this business is very good and sustainable and for instance for 500kg which cost me between ZMW 10,000 to ZMW 15,000, My revenue after selling I make ZMW 25,000. However, the profits made I use them to for reinvestment by buying fishing nets, survival leather jackets when fishing on the lake, pay my helpers, pay school fee of course for my children and also for growing the business and home improvements.
Project Proposal
With these funds I would like buy the following fishing inputs;
1. Fishing nets and surviving leather jackets- these will help to catch more fish this December as demand for fish is very high, there is a lot of demand from the customers as there is low supply of fish due to fish ban, the cost of buying the fishing nets and the leather jackets is ZMW 8,500.00.
2. Pesticides and fertilizer for crop farming such maize and vegetables, for this I need ZMW 6,500.00 for me to have a good yield or production of maize and vegetable.
Therefore the total budget projected will come to ZMW 15,000.00 of will give me a total of ZMW 17,500.00 as profit increase for my business as a whole.
