I am a business lady in my early thirties. I stay in Bahati village about 20km from Nakuru town. I have a daughter named Grace whom I love very much. She is in class six in a school called Muthaiti Academy. I stay in a rented house where I pay a rent of Ksh 1,500.

My Business

I have a green grocer shop located in Bahati shopping center. Bahati is surrounded by large farms which are fertile. Kales, carrots and potatoes are in plenty. There are two market days at Bahati. These are Wednesday and Saturdays. During the market days, a lot of farmers bring their produce to sell. By evening, some farmers still have some of their produce left and some find it had to take it back to their homes as some have to walk for long distances. They look for any willing buyer to sell to at a wholesale price especially for the perishable commodities while they store the imperishable in the stores to sell during the next market day. I usually buy those perishables such as the kales, carrots and potatoes to sell to the people during the other days which are not market days. The amount of produce that I can buy depend on how much capital that I have but the market is good since many busy people may not be able to attend the markets. Also some peasant persons are not able to buy a lot of commodities during the market days and therefore buy little everyday as they get their daily wages from their employers. I buy a bag of carrots at Ksh 200 and repack it into small bundles which retail at Ksh 20. A bag of carrots make about 25 such bundles giving me a profit of Ksh 300 in two days. A bag of kales costs Ksh 100 and I retail it at Ksh 200 in one day making a profit of Ksh 100 per day. I buy potatoes at Ksh 150 per small tin (debe) and resell it at Ksh 180. I can sell about six debes in a day making a profit of Ksh 180. I also sell dry cereals throughout the week. On a market day, I sell about one sack of dry maize per day at Ksh 1200 making a profit of Ksh 300. Usually I can sell about 30- 45 kg of beans per day. I sell a kg of beans at Ksh 70 making a profit of Ksh 15 per kg. That gives a total profit of between Ksh 450 – 675 per day. I would wish to expand the business so that I can be able to buy the cereals in larger quantities especially during the harvest seasons so that they can give a bigger profit margin. Also, if I have a lot of capital I can be able to buy more of the groceries from the farmers during the market days because the market is available for them during the non market days.

Loan Proposal

i do business of selling cereals.at this season most of the cereals are ready and one can buy at good price which in turns will earn me a good profit because i will be able to buy from farmers and sell to the consumers.Currently many farmers around my place are now harvesting their produce things like maize,beans,millets and peas this will minimise the amount of money used for transport so the profit will be higher compared to other season we i have to travel far in of search of the same commodities.
