About Me

My names are loice wambui a resident of mugaa nakuru .i am a mother of four children . the first born has already finished form four caurse (high school) two years ago while others are in school, whereby one is in secondary school form three while others are in primary school. My ocupation is that i am a farmer whereby i am a rabbit keeper.i am also a volunteer community health worker. I educate mothers to have good information to go to hospital to doctor to prevent death from post natal bleeding. Also we educate in community meeting about genral health. Our ploblem in this area is we dont have the kits for first aid. The government are promising us and we are thinking there is something coming but they are eating the money.also the distance 5 km from the nearest clinic and even that has no any money and trained doctors but we are hoping God will come and help us. I am also trained teacher at ECD early childhood education. i am not going on in teaching because my materials were stolen when the school Lucky ECD a private preschool was destroyed in the clashes after the 2007 elections.

My Business

I started rabbit keeping in 2006. the buying price of one rabbit is ksh 400 while the selling price is ksh 1,200per rabbit making a proffit of ksh 800. The reason why the deference of buying price and that of selling priceis high is because we crossbreed the loccally grazed rabbits and getting the best quality. The rabbits needs sunlight and so we cover the house with a wire mesh. Also they need the dewormers three months after three months ksh 130 for each rabbit and then there is medicines for the rabbits if they are sick usually they are below 300. For the food is the same as they use for the hens 7 kg for one bag lasts almost 3 months. it is ksh 1300 in nakuru i pay 200 to go in matatu [minibus] there and back. The other ones are vegetables i cut from the shamba [farm] with panga and then i dry it.

Loan Proposal

I would use the loan by improving my business of breeding rabbits whereby I want to add rabbits ,buy rabbit pellets which are needed for feeding rabbits inorder to grow healthy .Add houses for the rabbits which I need to purchase materials such as chicken wire –mesh;timber ,and iron sheets.
I have enough confidence that what Iwill buy will allow me to make enough money inorder to repay the loan and still have profit left over because there is enough market for the rabbits especially in big hotels.
One rabbit costs Ksh.400 whereby I want to buy 10 rabbits totalling ksh 4000 .
The house should be 90cm off the groud ,be 90 cm high and 90cm square. Because mabati(iron sheets)comes in 2.5meters length,it makes sence to build blocks of houses1.80meters wide so that one sheet can be used to cover the two houses .In this case one sheet costs ksh 500 where by they are needed 5 sheets which amounts to ksh 2500.
The floors are of chicken wire so that droppings and urine fall through to the ground .This can cost for ksh 350 per metre and is needed 10 metres which amounts to ksh 3500. Also polythene paper is needed for prevention of urine wetting the house which amounts k shs 2500.
One bag of pellets costs ksh 1500 and three bags are needed amounting to ksh 4500 plus vaccination which will cost ksh 1500 .
For the extra savings that I will get I would use for paying school fees for my children .Any remaining savings will be used for transport while serving people as community health worker.
