i am a 2nd born in a family of four and soon to be a mother of one. i studied a bachelor's degree in education in egerton university, laikipia campus. having studied mathematics and economics, i believe that responsibility ,freedom, exposure and challenge comes with self-employment. i hope to create employment for other people like me who have undergone frustrations in other forms of employment. i teach mathematics in a private school but also run a family shop which has enabled me to go through college without any hustle. i have two siblings still at school and the money earned helps cater for that. i hope to upgrade the shop and actually open another shop soon in a new place with ready market. the shop is a general shop which has been running for over 25 years and already has established customers. an upgrade could be a breakthrough to opening a new shop for me.
the shop which has stock such as sugar, rice, shoes, clothes, airtime, stationery, grains etc earns a n income of averagely 800dollar per month. while most of it goes to restocking,around180dollar is saved per month. the shop is not a rental hence no rent is required. in case of a loan repayment, i would use the monthly salary i earn from my teaching job to repay if the season is a slow one in the shop. having already established clientele,i hope to soon employ a delivery boy who will assist in deliver
i am currently on my maternity leave and this will go on for three more months as i take care of my expected young one. as my shop is doinf fairly well,i need to also be busy at home. i have taught in a number of colleges and one of the main challenges is lack of customised learning materials especially for the long distance learners. as a result, the management is offering 45dollars for every training manual written. however,i need to purchase a second hand desktop at 100dollars. i will also purchase a printer/scanner/ photocopier for not more than 55dollars and printing papers for 25dollars. the rest will be used to deliver the manuals to the respective institutions. since i already have some manuals in soft copies, i will spend the rest on printing. the courses am working on include Economics(my favourite) counseling, tours and travel, community development, statistics and project management..all of which i have been teaching since 2011. i believe this will keep my brain functioning,my finances stable and my family happy. thank you team ZIDISHA. i look forward to your funding as i look forward to welcoming my first born to the world.
