About Me

Hello family! My name in Millicent Anyika. a professional agricultural economist.
i grew up in kitale, the bread basket of kenya. i grew up mainly in the farm, attended a local primary and secondary school, later passed well and offered a space to study, Bsc(agriculture) at egerton univeristy,in Nakuru county.

Normallly in rural areas ,there were no roads, so i realy struggled getting to school.
After graduation, i didnt make it to get formal employment, and decided to go back to my rural home, and do some local farming, i later realised the only plant being farmed here is maize, and i got the idea to change the whole story. I inherited 5 acres of land from my grandparents which i decided to convert and use it for horticulture farming, that i willl sale in nearby kitale town and maybe Eldoret.

My Business

I do horticulure farming, i made a small permanent structure near the tarmac that i sell to sell my produce. I also have an ongoing project where i am designing an eatery where i will be selling fresh produce from my farm.
in my farm, i have, spinach, collard greens, greeenand red capsicums, french beans, starwberries, cabbages, red cabbages, and carrots.
i also have a small structure that i use for pig farming
My goods are now high in demand, people need to eat, and they cant eat only maize(corn), they need a balanced diet and that i what i am providing,
I chose agriculture since its the backbone of kenyas economy, i will feed the nation and earn in the process.
my typical costs include buying seeds and my revenue come from selling my produce.
i use my profit to re invest back in my farm, as i have plans to buy an extra acre of land that i will use for dairy farming

Project Proposal

I am intending to purchase 50 passion fruit seedlings . I have set aside a space for the seedlings and everything is in place, i have made Spacing as it is an important aspect when it comes to passion farming. I have made a spacing of 3m x 2m which is recommended for passion. i have planted holes with a diameter of 45cmx45cm and 1.5 feet deep. I have a Well-decomposed manure that i be put in the holes to improve soil fertility. this will accommodate 50 grafted seedlings.
I have already signed a contract with a nearby juice making startup, and they will purchase my passion fruits on maturity. This will improve the economy of my local area and provide nutritious drinks full of vitamins to my people.
As for my expectation from my prior studies and research and agreement with the startup, one passion fruit vine should give 2kg every week during the high season, and 100kg every week for all the 50 matured vines. 1kg will be bough at 0.6usd , so per week that will be 60usd every week .

any profit accrued will be re invented into the farm and also pay bills.
Thank you for your support in advance.
