My name is Sarah Asare Mathias from the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana, and I am a trader and businesswoman. I am the first of five children born to my parents. My father died in my senior high school days and my mom had to take care of the five of us alone. As a result of financial difficulties, I could not proceed to college although I had very good grades. I took to supplying A4 sheets to the photocopy shops at the University of Ghana, Legon, at a very early age, to which I used the profit to take care of myself and help my mom to raise my other siblings. So this is how come I came to start this business of selling and distributing A4 papers in large quantities. Initially when I started, I was trading on credit. I took to sell and paid later but, as time went by, I was able to save to purchase to sell.
I am a very dedicated Christian who believes in working hard. I spend my free time -- which is not often because I am always working -- to rest and think through my business and how to improve it. My dream as of the moment is to be able to trade in these A4 sheets of papers and supply to on a bigger platform since it is very lucrative. Integrity has been my life's compass and due to that I have never lost my way...
As I wrote earlier, I deal in printing papers and I only supply them to more than 12 mini printing and photocopying shops in the University of Ghana, Legon. These are highly in demand, since in our part of the world most of the materials given to students are photocopies, so those involved in this business are really making money and my supplies are on daily basis. So, at the end of the day, the operators of the shops just call me and they give me the quantities they will need for the next day, and I go to a retail and get them and just supply. Then also I am paid instantly.
I chose this kind of business because, as of the time I left high school, I did not have a lot of money to start something big. So when I say the opportunity in this business, a family member opted to help me out with the starting capital; however, I was able to repay her in just three months and made enough money to now do business on my own so I remained there.
Then one thing about this business is that you make up to 57% on your invested amount. I have been saving actually and I stay on part of my profit and help my parents too with about 30% of the profit I make in a day. The dream I have is to be able to trade on a large scale because the demand is huge, and my dream is to do this business and buy application forms and apply to the University of Ghana next year, since I can combine learning and supplying at the same time.
when and if my loan project is fully funded, i will used the entire amount for my business...
15 big boxes of A4 sheets.............................$85
2 small boxes of stapplers............................$15
2 boxes of binding materials........................$20
5 boxes of printing/ photocopy ink..........$50
when i have these things in stock, it will help to keep me in business. i will also help me to be able to meet supply in the school because as i write, demand is very high and i only meet the aspect that my capital can allow me so if only i have stock to supply then i will make more profit since demand is daily and cash is delivered ones i supply.
with this new development, and my calculations, i expect profit to be around 46% of the invested amount ......
with this profit, i can repay the loan and also make some money for my upkeep and also save towards my education.......
thank you...
