Hi Tom, thanks for reaching out and wanting to learn more about our business and the reason why am promoting clean energy. Energy poverty is pervasive in rural and slum communities of Chipata. over 70% of the population is not connected to electricity and still uses traditional sources of energy. many rely on kerosene lamps for lighting. each kerosene lamp releases a ton of carbon dioxide smoke every year, contributing to global warming, and creating risks of burns, pneumonia, bronchitis and lung cancer. The lamps are too dim for good reading and kerosene purchases eat up family income. For example, it cost a household $85 per year on kerosene purchase for use to study, cooking and lighting. In addition to the cost of buying kerosene, this source of energy is not reliable and has health hazards. My Company has embarked on distributing solar lamps to students and families so that we replace kerosene use with clean solar lamps that are affordable and lights 10x more than a kerosene lamp. The solar lamp will cost a household $15 and comes with a 1 year warranty. just the purchase of this lamp saves a student or family $70 which they can use to improve their nutrition intake, or invest in their children education. Hi family, meet my new friends. I met this children when they were collecting firewood, scrap metals and plastic to sell. They do that every weekend so as to raise money for their upkeep, and school fees. I try to cheer them up by having buns ready for them every time they pass through my neighbourhood. There are two main types of organisations that have put learning materials on the Internet to help everyone have access to education. There are universities that have published their lecture courses like the famous MIT in America http://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm Then there are organisations which have set up websites simply to provide free learning resources like https://www.khanacademy.org/ There is a wide variety of material available from lecture notes and free textbooks to videos. It can be difficult to track down exactly what you want sometimes. But as I said I would be happy to help. So if there are any specific topics you would like to find resources on just let me know and I will see what I can find.
